Default recommendations?

i'm looking to get myself another mp4 player after that disaster of a first try my dad got me. its totally unworkable, but i don't want to hurt his feelings because he was so proud of it, so i'm thinking of getting another one that looks exactly like it but hopefully with a nicer UI, a better screen, and at least 2GB of memory.

its a black nano clone, btw. they sold it to him as a 4GB BUT after taking it back here, taking out the memory hack, turns it outs 128 freaking MB. and NOW the stupid thing won't even hold its charge.

any recommendations? what should i look out for? and, how can i tell which nano clones are which? i mean, how can i tell which are better quality ones right off the bat?

e_p_a_k , it's quite impossible to tell which player is better than the other from just the pictures alone. Much less emailing a seller to ask if their product is good or not, nobody will say the products they are selling are not good.

If you prefer a nano-clone, the reliable source would be to from Uxcell.com instead.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

T39 doesn''t sound as good as my T29

I'll second what lattesurf said. Assuming your pa got you a 1st gen nano clone, then you want this guy:

The black 2G Super I Platinum from UxCell, with a 1.8" screen. Your dad will never know the difference but trust me, it has a nicer UI and better screen, so you will! You need to look out for any nano clone that purports to be 4GB+, they almost always fakes.

yeah i was actually checking out the UXCell players beforehand, and they look pretty good. is it possible that i can get a look at the screen or the UI so i have an idea of what to expect though?

oh, and do you think they'll give me a particular firmware version if i ask for it?
