What is fueling your Mp4 Player Addiciton

I hate to admit it but I think I have a MP4 player addiction.

It started when I was trying to replace my old MP3 player and went on Ebay to look for a deal.

After some research I bought a 1GB Nano clone for 50$ Cdn. (that was a good deal at the time).

When I finally received the player, I totally felt like I got MORE then what I paid for but after actually using the player, I now feel that I got what I paid for -_-

The Nano clone physically was quite expensive feeling but the user interface was an absolute disgrace.

With no ability to browse folders, I quickly jumped into Firmware modding.

After some trial and error I was able to get it browsing folders, but it was certainly no fun.

A few months go by and again like I feel the need to upgrade.

(This is when the addiction really starts to set in)

No more shitty half ass MP4 Chipods for me, I'm going to buy the real thing, a Creative Zen V 4GB.

This hunt lead me to the Meizu M6 4GB which ironically lead me to buying a 30GB IPod Video.

However with that purchase, the buying didn't stop.

The next day I find the MeizuM6 for a fair price, and place a bid.

Hmm I don't even really know why I need it, but hey it looks so cool.

Oh that would be the last one but wait!

Wat! A Nokia changable battery powered 4GB mp4 player with shipping for only $60CND

Now I have 2 Chipods a Meizu M6 and an IPOD30GB which I use as my main mp3 player.

So what's up with this addiction?
Addicted to the good deal?

I have to say I buy mainly to see the evolution of the user interface.

Weird reason?

I'm going crazy?

I have no idea, but I NEED TO STOP

OMG newbielives I have the same addiction lol! I simply buy mp4s that I think are great even though I definitely don't need them all. Only thing is, I kind of look for the best deals (yeah I know I'm cheap), so I don't think I've spent as much as you. But I have a lot more than I need, trust me on that one. (Check out my posts on this thread and you'll see for yourself. It started last August when I stumbled upon the site Campus111 and saw the mp4 player with all the unbelievable features for only $40! And it still continues - as of last week Wed. I bought another 2! But I really need to stop buying and start saving so I told my sister to make me snap out of it if she sees me on eBay looking up mp4s. I definitely am not buying any more, though. I've gone insane enough buying more and more of these things. Maybe I should go to mp4 rehab :D

Haha I think you have spent more then me lol
I have ran out of reasons to buy any more, the IPOD was actually a real upgrade so I could put every single mp3 I've ever wanted onto one device.

The Meizu M6 ummm that was totally impulse, but HEY maybe I will set it up for one of my sister.

The new Glacier looking MP4 player excuse was to use it as my workout player, you could basically spit on it and it wouldnt matter let alone some sweat lol.

But ....... arrggg

Check this out Meizu look alike

And a video of it on Youtube Click

i dont know but whenever i buy something, i always have something left to be desired. its very rare that i get satisfied with something i buy.

the same is the case with the two mp4 players i have bought. but i think UXCell's Glacier is the perfect mp4 player in my opinion and i am going to buy one towards the end of March :D

Hold the presses.... where did you find a 4GB player with a Nokia battery for $60CND? I've been looking for alternatives to the Glacier that have Nokia batteries.... only found crap. Did you actually low level format this player to be sure its 4GB? Id be very suspect of that.

Speaking of which.... the eBay ad you link to, why does that seller, ygsm_mobiledigital, sound familiar to me? Didn't I see his name in the blacklist section of this site? Anyone else find it ironic he is now talking about not getting ripped off on buying a 4GB player? And where is this Meizu clone of his coming from? Is this a Meizu or is there really a clone of one? I didnt know they cloned the Meizu?! How can they, aren't the Meizu produced in an exclusive purpose built factory? And if so, is there a quality difference? How can he sell 4GB units so low, if they are true 4gb as he says, with the price of flash mem as it is...

tadad1 5th Feb 2007 12:53 am

michiganjfrog, the Meizu clone is just a re-cased Glacier, there are actually quite a few Meizu knockoffs and like this one they tend to use real Meizu photo's so you do not really get what you see.

lattesurf 5th Feb 2007 12:56 am

michiganjfrog , i've seen the Meizu knockoffs selling in retail shops in my country. But usually are the 512Mb/1GB versions. Looks exactly the same on the outside. However, i think the processer would be another Actions or Sigmatel chipset.

Anything and everything is possible.. If they can copy the ipod nanos, they can copy anything.

And hey, lucky me i've grown out of the online shopping thing! But the bad thing is.. it is starting to come back again.. I pity my visa card..
