CHIpod. my loves, my loathes.
i love the fact that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, it plays music, plays videos, and displays pictures. it's modable (for most people, at least).
i hate the fact that it tends to act up a lot. BUT, you get what you pay for. more than waht you pay for, in this case.=p i hate the fact that it still takes quite a bit of work to make it workable. i hate the fact that the UI is kinda primitive. (BTW, off topic, but is there anyway to look through your song list without stopping the currently playing song?)

e_p_a_k, The fact that you have to stop the music to select the next track is a pet hate with lots of people. This is due to the fact that the player only has a single processor, most of the players that allow multi-tasking are dual chip the main chip to run the player and a second dedicated audio chip for music play. That is why the feature is only available in more expensive players like the Meizu Teclast.

54 euro is expensive >< .... for a non-brandname . Rather invest in the Meizu or something else and MOST of brand name support miniSD/SD/MMC card .
Love : Small .... maybe too small . Got own speaker (even if it is crappy O_O) . Play video (even if it is cheap ghetto style to convert)
Hate : Not cheap despite the fact that many ppl think or we get what we pay but the fact remain that it's not cheap .
Sometimes I felt so ghetto holding it O_O ... Like a toy .
For someone doesnt know, maybe it's great .
Bought mine for $50 for 2gb, wouldn't worth more than $30 the first time I hold it in my hand and saw it .
Brandname would cost around $100+ for 2gb but come with decent earphone, gadget, high battery rate blah blah so yeah, what u get is an OEM version then have to buy all those other stuff and end up exactly around that range LMAO :P . Unless u already got ur COOL stuff ready and dont need it .
Just like if u build ur own comp, look damn expensive but upgrade is less .
PS : And when I said cheap, I dont mean they list the price as $20 and ship at $30-$40 ~_~ . LMAO ... if some ppl didn't even realize that :P .

yeah but at the same time it costs a fraction of what a real ipod costs. sure its cheap, but you can get good earphones and a better battery and it still wouldn't be as expensive as an ipod. and, of course, it looks cheap, it feels cheap, what do you expect? its cheap. :P

Re: CHIpod. my loves, my loathes.
+:
* $ CHEAP. Cost less than a 1GB memory stick. So even if it stops playing, it's still cheap for storage.
* Plays video. Once you figure out the amv conversion properly, quite easy to get clips off youtube etc and onto your screen in no time. Even full DVDs, though I don't see myself watching 2hrs worth on it...
* Looks. Personally I hate all the "ipod = mp3" mentality (ie., no others exist!?), but this little nano clone looks pretty cool. Lined it up next to a workmate's nano (both black), and apart from screen aspect ratio and slightly different control markings, they were almost identical.
* Might one day be themeable, once the 9.0.50 firmware is cracked.
* Has an FM radio.
* Has a mic (not that I use it, but it's there...)
-:
* Screen's a bit dodgy: the contrast etc is not too great, and the lighting is uneven. But hey, I'm not using the screen much, and it's more than watchable for video.
* 2.5mm socket. Means an extra 2.5-3.5 adapter hanging off it to use better headphones, if you want them to be usable for anything else.
* The scam. 1GB sold as 4GB. Luckily I got it for less than I was going to spend for a 1GB. Also lucky I found this info to rectify the formating, so it's usable.
* Battery's a bit dodgy, but better than using AAAs etc. Haven't seen a replacement that will fit yet (~ 42mm x [22? can't remember] x ~5)
Conclusion: The little beasty has more going for it than against it! :mrgreen:

i agree. in the end, it all boils down to what you're willing to pay for.

i like everything about the mp4 player. yeh there are some cons but then the pros outweigh them easily considering the amount of money these things cost

I love the fact that it was cheap and works, it plays all the stuff I want it out and I can use it where ever.
I love it that the speaker can be heard over my whole graphics class for my table. I love it that my friends say it looks cooler than a real Ipod.
I hate it that it came hacked I hate it that I use up the memory cos I was used to thinking I had 4gb to kill not 2. I hate it that people get mugged for Ipods and I might get targeted cos it looks like one.
