Best music sites

Hey all, I received my mp3/4 player in the mail yesterday and so far love it. Its kinda funny b/c it was on ebay as an 8GB player and after learning on this site that the 8s dont exist I decided I would settle for anything 2GB or better...which it was 2GB. I notified the seller of this but said I was keeping it and they said sorry and then listed mympxplayer.org for any advice...IRONIC. Any way, Im a newbie and was wondering, now that I have this player, whats my next step to finding music online...what are some of the better sites for obtaining mp3s etc.? Thanks in advance for any help.

jtodd2823 , some members have reported having problems playing music on their players. These mp3s were purchased from walmart, itunes, etc..

So basically, those mp3s with DRM, you would most likely encounter problems playing them.

Re: Best music sites

Ok, so some sites say that there files work with ipods and ANY Mp3 player. Are these trustworthy? Some examples I found are http://www.mp3.com/
http://downloadmusicinc.com/
http://www.mp3rocket.com/indexcb.htm?hop=expressdl

Thanks again

jtodd2823 , i've not used these sites for downloading mp3s, so i'm not sure if they are good.
Also, they never mentioned anything about DRM. Probably the files are just pure mp3s or WMAs, which would work fine on your player.

Just use some "illegal" filesharing program like Ares: http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net

Cuz those sites without DRM is also "illegal" and getting legal DRM-wma's from iTunes or something is very stupid!

Or use uTorrent with a private site like OiNK, very, very good, has only high quality albums, from 192kbps to loseless FLAC. The site has about 150.000 albums. And great download speeds too. You need to upload minimum a half of what you have downloaded, so if you have downloaded 1Gb albums, you need to upload atleast 500mb to not get banned from OiNK. It needs an invite though, if you're intrested, PM me and I'll invite you :D

If you have an .edu address then use Ruckus.com and Fairuse with Windows Media Player 10

Filesharing program = p2p :p

Oh, belive me, I know p2p and stuff a lot. I had my own p2p forum before and I have readed/posted on filesharing forums for years. :)

Limewire and the network Gnutella that limewire connects to was good like some year ago. The network was clean of fakes and low-quality files, but now when it's so populair, RIAA and MPAA (anti-filesharings oraganisations) spreads fakes and bad files on Gnutella, so it's more like KaZaA's network "fasttrack" now, that tottaly sucks.

When they created Ares, it used same network as limewire; 'gnutella', but later on Ares 'created' their own network. It has better search results and speeds, but there is a lot less Ares users that limewire users so you won't get extreamly super search results on Ares. But Ares is clean, and has high quality files.

Get Ares here:
http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

If you need very rare songs/movies, then you should use eMule. It connects to the servers called 'eD2k servers'. This network has about over 4 million users online any time given, it's centrelized so you can search ALL users files online, not like on LimeWire or Ares where you can only search about 10.000 to 100.000 users. eD2k(eMule) is the biggest network right now (after bittorrent maybe, but torrents are another story) eMule also connects to the decentrelized network called 'KAD' that makes the download speed and sources a bit better.

On eMule, you will find soo much stuff, old, new, rare, almost everything! There is about 600.000.000 files shared online right now. But the speed can be very slow some times, you need to upload a lot and gain 'credits' and that makes you go forward on the download ques on other users.

Get eMule here:
http://www.emule-project.net

[both of the apps are open source and they do not contain any spyware/adware/trojans.]

Enjoy the life of free music and movies! :D

Be original! Buy the real stuff!
i've had my share with RIAA Singapore 2 years ago. Received a lawyer's letter from the biggest & strongest law firm in Singapore. Warning me to stop my mp3 activities (which i was using my cable connection as a 24/7 music server) or they will take up a formal suit against me.

So the golden rule, Stop piracy! :D

lol not trying to spread piracy. its just that most of the people like Justin Timberlake, Ludacris, etc dont release their album CDs here. so i download their stuff :D

but people like Akon, Green Day, Linkin Park, etc release their albums here and i buy them :D

I prefer direct downloads as opposed to p2p. There are many forum based sites that you can get links to tons of stuff stored on rapidshare, megaupload, etc. Here is the site that I use the most (you'll need to register, it's free).
