Tradestead probably did not reply because they celebrate Chinese newyear now.

I can not advice you that they are reliable.

If your plan is to buy one or two mpX players, it will be cheaper to buy from Uxcell.

nanocopyuser 21st Feb 2007 3:08 am

Well, actually this site is cheaper, US$27.81 for a 2nd gen nano clone...idk how much the shipping is though...uxcell is more safe to buy from...

I created a account on Tradestead to be able to check the shipping costs, and if you buy 1 second generation nano clone, 1 Gb with 1.5" display, it will cost 46,45 USD shipping included.

On the Uxcell website the same nano clone (FMP 1,5" 1GB) will cost only 38,99 USD shipping included. And with the discount coupon it will become minimum 10 % cheaper

nanocopyuser 21st Feb 2007 3:29 am

Oh ok :) yepp uxcell is da cheap ^^

Yeah, good not-hacked players, cheap and cheap shipping. I just got a mp3 from there and I love it

Dear rudd8025,

Sorry to hear that you did not get the reply. Very likely there was a Chinese New Year holiday and most of the staffs were off during that time. You can directly submit the inquiry on tradestead.com. We are looking forward to serve you again. Thank you.

wow - dragging posts up from 2007 eh .. must be important

admin 24th May 2011 12:04 am

Hey Makd,

You're right, 4 years is quite some time to reply that's for sure. It seems that tsd041 is from tradestead itself from the reply.

It just shows that suppliers do take notice of the board, esp comments about their company.
If only we can get more SDK or more tools for these players, that would be awesome. Then again their hands are probably tied because the manufacturers won't release these anyway to protect their intellect property.

well the main industry in heading over to android now, even making PMP with android without wifi - why bother making your own stunted and frankly crap system when one is made for you and yes, you are right, you wont see much coming to help with development, far to overprotective .. but willing to take from anyone else they can

I've been looking for a basic Android PMP. know any names?

Looked on mp4nation and all I can see are tablets, I'm looking for something smaller, not bothered about wi-fi, just a small fairly cheap Android PMP I can tinker with.

makd511 26th May 2011 1:30 am

ramos have a few, dual boot based on novotek chipset, ainol, teclast - named smart PMP
raz wont be selling them as he does not see a market for pmp without wifi
there are loads in china, there was a splurge about a few weeks back and they were releasing them by the bucket load

these are a few

those above are all i think based of rockchips 2818 series, somewhat let down by only 256mb ram which is a pain for android - they could be 2816 too .. cant remember but 2816 suffers from using slower ram and thus multi tasking becomes a pain - research needed

i think thersde are the dual boot novotek

so there is a few to go with - they seem to be selling well in china and they are currently aiming for the magic 299yuan price tag that seems to be popular .. mainly for the students, they have not really taken off over the water though and also dont expect android source code from these companies

Hey knob,

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking at getting into the Androids myself, esp that it's open source. I hope to start up a seperate section for it on MyMPx.org forums. Do you and makd care to join me?

Binh@MyMPx 26th May 2011 1:39 am

Makd,

Congratulations for getting over 1000 posts and being a Valued Member as well!

Thanks for all your hard work and contribution to the site.

makd511 26th May 2011 1:45 am

thankyou - didnt even realise i had so many posts on here

as for android section - yep why not but there sis one thing that a definite - there are almost as many android based blog/forum sites as there are people :)

the china PMP industry has taken android to heart as its a ready made3 system and makes expandable players but again let down somewhat by bad implantation in many cases - finding source could be a problem though - why rule out WIFI knob, raz has the ainol novo5 small screen tab with wifi, just makes the tab more interesting with wifi and more opportunities for modding and creating interesting wifi enabled apps, for eg there are the new tabs based on VIA newer chipset that are goign for around 90$ - 7" screens wifi etc and work is also going on re development so at least youll have a starting point

makd511 26th May 2011 6:29 am

knob - take a look here for good range of smart PMP - shop is genuine and fine to use
Android MP4 Player : JTSHOP Online
as many are based of same stock reference board you MAY be able to interchange firmwares .. but who knows

knob 26th May 2011 10:53 am

This has got me all excited now! Thanks makd for taking the trouble to post all those links.

yes admin. please set up a seperate section for android PMP. I will post my findings in it as soon as I get my hands on one, might take some time for me to take a decision though, but I think I will go for 4.3" screen as it seems to be the smallest available.

makd511 26th May 2011 11:56 am

4.3 is the smallest screen available so far - at least from china, they really have slowed down on the smaller screen players (apart from all the generic crap still lying about) for a while now all the big names in china have been all about big screen video players, and now of course android

well looking forward to seeing what you get, BTW WINDOW are a very nice brand to get, stylish and well made players

Binh@MyMPx 27th May 2011 4:22 am

I think we should start a seperate post about the Android PMP players.

Android is the future I feel.
I can only see good things in the future for Android devices.
It's Open Source and there are more likely to be updatable and customisable than the clone MP4 players from China.

Android smart phones have already taking a huge market and in such quick time as well.
I can see it also taking over the PMP market as well, it's just a matter of time........................

I'm actually in talks wth JT Shop about them coming onboard and sponsoring a player for us to review and also to perhaps use as a prize for another competition. So lets keep our fingers cross for that.

makd511 27th May 2011 5:08 am

well yep, android pace and penetration across many fields has been speedy and powerful to say the least - problem with china is open source - they don't exactly honour that side of things if its to come from their side!!

anyway i hope you get your deal from JTshop - hassle them, they can afford to offer up a player for review :) TBH i wont be entering into this new gen of media players, or any portable tech, be it tablets, players, smart PMP - its also one of the reason i have been away for a while .. im just not into all this cheap tech any more, or indeed any tech, im in the grumpy old man stage of life and frankly im pissed at things changing too fast and the amount of unfinished, cheap dross appearing on our shelves, and that goes for big brand names too - im just sick of throwing money away on things that only go to serve a curiosity and never really get used

anyway - enough whinning

Don't start me off as well!
I'm still searching for the perfect PMP, but never found it yet!
With the big brands it's proprietary usb connectors, limited codecs,DRM and batteries you can't get at.
and with the generic brands it's lousy firmware, microscopic fonts and bad build quality. Is it really that hard?

I was kinda hoping the manufacturers might have learn't a thing or two by now.

makd511 28th May 2011 7:00 am

well for chinese pmp rockhcip have made big efforts in the UI development and made widget based system with true fonts and not bitmap fonts, fast scrolling and better all round

depends what you mean by "perfect"
