Default Anyone got a Tecknet V70 MP3/4 player Help Needed by Newbie

I recently purchased an iPod clone - the Tecknet V70 MP3/4 (1gig) player from Amazon, where it has very favourable reviews.

Oh dear. Where to start? Well the user guide is written in a barely intelligible translation from the Chinese for a start, and the formats actually supported seem to be a lot less than it says in the Amazon advert.

It keeps turning itself off, every few seconds (and yes I have tried to reset this option to longer without success and yes there is enough battery power).

The software disk supplied is freezes my screen when I load it (I am running a bog standard version of Windows XP Professional).

How to set up different folders is a mystery and as for amv conversion, I daren't even go there yet. At present the Movie option (which isn't covered in the User Guide) doesn't appear to work, but that might just be a format issue.

But I am new to these devices and maybe there is some help out there? Can anyone step forward to offer some advice if so I will post more about what my problems are in using it.

Basics for these players are the same, minor differences in button layout and screens. You could download manuals from the download section, or try searching youtube (ipod clone, chipod, mp3player) to watch some demonstrations/reviews.
Did you set the on/off switch to on? In the settings there is an adjustable option to let the player turn itself of, set it to 0 to avoid that. Same for screen if you want to keep it on, will drain the battery fast though.
When the player is attached to the computer, you can transfer folders to the player, various folders, folders in folders, etc. 99 song limit per folder! So that's about the same as copying files to another harddisk in your computer.
There are updated versions of the software that came with the player in the download section too, you probably need the mp3player utilities with the AMV converter, to convert your video's to the players format and codec.

2. a format of your player should help you to solve the restarting problem.
http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-re...ck-vt2400.html

2. get the software that comes with mp4 players from here. it includes the MP3 Disk tool for formatting, amv converter for converting videos and MP3 Update tool to update (not upgrade) your firmware.
http://www.mympxplayer.org/amv-conve...-mb-df327.html

3. after you download the software, open up the amv converter and do the following for converting videos.

look at the properties of the video file you are converting, if it is 29fps, then use medium fps setting while converting it.

if it is 25fps, then use high/low fps setting while converting.

if you don't know how to change it, then what you have to do is:
1. select the video to be converted in the converter.
2. click/highlight the video where it says File Name etc in the lower part of the converter.
3. Then click on the gear on the right of the converter.

There you can change all the setting.

I would recommend you to tick the 'Try Other Codec' option if you have a codec pack installed. if you dont then its highly recommended you do from the download section.

Other setting i would recommend are:
1. fps according to what i told you above.
2. image quality - medium
3. focus : mode 0

to improve your amvs you can also try this

hope this helps

for more help you can come back and post here again or go here for a quick overview of the various functions of mp4 players

Thanks for the information. After spending several hours last night, as a result of which I posted my first message, I am about to start again and will do so with the advice you posted.

One thing is puzzling me - how do I set up separate folders on the MP3 player? I have no idea how to go about this. I have managed to copy a couple of MP3 songs and a Jpeg onto it so far I don't know how to set up folders on it. Do I need some special software?

I am also having problems navigating from one Menu to another. According to the user guide, it is possible to do this by pressing Play. This should exit me from the option I am in and return me to the previous Menu screen. But when I press play either nothing happens or it activates the Turn off option.

Finally although there are separate Music and Movie menus, when I select the Movie menu it just brings up the Music screen. Is this because I don't at present have any movies to select?

rockette , just treat the player as a normal USB thumbdrive. So when you open the player's drive via My Computer, just right click and create new folders, it's that simple.

To navigate around, usually by long pressing the Menu button, it would exit the current program and revert to the main menu.
Next, scroll to the desired program and press Menu once, it should enter you into the program.

For the movie menu problem, i'll suggest you convert a movie file first. But usually if there isin't a video file inside, there would just be a message "No video files" and the program would exit.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
