How about a warning on the front page?

Just that, a warning to all chipod owners that want to update their firmware. Someone could have a daytime job, 2 people could, running shifts, telling people not to flash their firmware 9.0.48 and up (or confirm that they just killed it), because of the lack of a working extraction/repair/flash util for it yet.
Would this be a good idea, to put it up on mympxplayer's frontpage?

Que , it's a good idea. However, most people would not bother to read all these and just proceed to download the firmware and flash it in. Cos if they really do bother to read, they won't end up flashing wrong firmwares into their players.

i did have a suggestion about 1-2weeks ago, where a java prompt could be added to the firmware download page. http://www.mympxplayer.org/java-prom...ds-vt4310.html

But either way, if either suggest is implemented, hopefully it does reduce the occurrence of bricked players.

yeh i liked that suggestion by lattesurf. we can always try small things like this to prevent the members from killing their player and losing their money.

i am sure Binh will have a look at it :)

Or even a warning in BIG BOLD letters on the firmware download page might help. Maybe something flashing in red.

I agree and we could go one step further. With the number of people disabling thier players due to lack of knowledge, and 'flashing incorrect firmware for no good reason' being the most frequent cause of problems, only make the download section available for members. Upon signup in those big bold red letters, have a reminder stating something along the lines of "If you do not have a serious problem with your mp4 player, upgrading it's firmware is Not Advised - Click Here to proceed"
