Recs for nano clone - 1 or 2 GB, FM, lyrics, 3+ hr batt life

I gave away my 1st gen 512 mb nano clone to little cousin (whose nano clone was submerged in water and broke) and am now in the market for a new one with larger capacity. It also must have a replaceable battery (best if the ipod nano battery fits into it) Any recs?

Thanks!

speedypear , you might want to consider the Glacier from UXcell as it uses a removeable nokia battery.

Other than this, most other players use internal batteries. Which is difficult to say which can fit the ipod nano replacement battery. As you'll need to physically measure the space allowable for the battery.

Thanks for your advice. The screen on the glacier is a bit too large for my needs though - I'm not planning to watch any movies lol :) So...instead, I bought a 2nd gen ipod clone on Ebay yesterday that is a legitimate 4gb and only $48 US including shipping. Not a bad deal! 4GB are quite widely available on Ebay and even Uxcell now, so as long as you check feedback before buying, you should be getting what you pay for.

Tell us what seller you bought it from? :)

I bought from ckkexpress, based in Hong Kong. Ask him any questions you have before buying, he is very friendly in communications compared to other sellers who won't even bother responding to you. Many people in his feedback say that the player is a genuine 4GB, so I am hoping it's true. If it isn't, well....don't blame me! Haha.

Unfortunately he only sells them in the colour black, but I don't mind too much - blue would have been excellent however. The best thing about his auctions is that most of them have free shipping - he has seriously gotten 60 feedback in the last 24 hours, I'm guessing because he's one of the few legit sellers of the elusive 4GB. I will provide full details and pics when I receive mine, within a week hopefully :-)

$48 for a 4GB?? - Congratulations!! You are now eligible to sign the petition!!

From the $48, take away $1.55 ebay listing fees, $2.06 ebay final value fees, & $2.24 paypal comission, and the guy would be left with $42.15. Then he has to pay for shipping - at least $4?

So in effect, he is selling a 4GB for $38 - "Legitimate"?? Yeah sure!!
Legit 4GB WHOLESALE starts at about $44 + shipping for large quantities & 1.5" screen.

Hmm....you are indeed worrying me, and I admit there is a chance I am being scammed. But I'll wait until I receive it to make a judgement. Do you seriously think Uxcell (thought to be a legitimate seller) would sell its customers hacked 4GB players? They just became available yesterday on Uxcell.com.

HubbleMart 6th Mar 2007 9:56 pm

Uxcell makes good money - they sell the 4GB 1.8" for $75 (less 10% discount) + $5 shipping - & no ebay comissions. I'm sure theirs are legit 4GB.

I just checked out ckkexpress - his buy-it-now / reserve listings for 4GB start at $44 + $15 shipping, & go up to $15.7+48, 44+26 etc. which is fine. he is saving from the shipping, & the price is ok for a legit 4GB.

But I don't know about his auctions - his lowest 4GB auction ended at $41.43 with free shipping!!
One trick that these guys use if the auction ended too low is that they don't ship it. After 2 or 3 weeks, when you don't receive your package & complain - they will declare after a few emails that "item is lost" & give you a refund! The other trick of course is to send you a hacked one!

I say just email the guy, tell him clearly that if he is going to send you a hacked player or make up an item lost story after a few weeks, he might as well give you a refund right now, otherwise you will report blah blah..

Hi again everyone....I messaged someone who bought and received the 4GB from this seller and he confirmed that was indeed the capacity it was advertised as. He tested it by placing an almost-4GB sized file and it fit. I feel better now, I think. As they always say...we'll see.

speedypear, You have to do a little more than just copy a large file to the player in order to test whether or not it's been hacked. Most of the time, it will give the appearance that the entire file is there.. but often isn't. Get your friend to format the player as in the 'removing memory hack' section of this forum and this will reveal it's true capacity.
Good luck to your friend.. i hope he got a real 4GB mp4 player.
