about 2 months ago, my friend saw my mp4 player and thought it was really cool. everybody thought it was really cool, i told one person where i got it. he ofcourse bought one, even though he has an iPod nano, and like 2 mp3 players. today he called me and said "aleks, can u put some vids on my new mp4 player?" (99% of my friends dont even kno 99% of what i know about computers, understanding mp4 players would be impossible for them)
i said "sure" he brought it over. i imediately identified it as a full metal platinum, i know because of what it looked like, and because he said he got it at uxcell. i started playing with it.
first without any songs or any files on it, i tried to get used to the controls. it was easy, very identical to the way my player work(ed)
i checked the firmware version, it's 5.1.0. it's new. main menu display looks very nice. the screen is huge. i like the feel of the buttons compared to my player. it also feels cool, the metal shell i mean. it's 2 gigabytes. well actually 1.9.
i put a few songs on it. i went on the music, and the song played perfectly.
the biggest problem, and this is BIGGEST THING i hate about chiPods, IT TAKES LIKE 2 SECONDS FOR THE NEXT SONG TO SHOW UP!!!!!!
i had the problem with my old player, but it wasn't as bad. it was like 100 percent faster. this player is really slow.
anyways, i put some of the videos that i had converted for my old player, which i forgot to mention is a nano clone, 1.5 inch lcd screen. i have some videos for it, which are obviously a smaller resolution then the Full Metal Platinum. the quality is great! I forgot to mention that there was a default video, and i could no problem watch a movie on this thing. i could on my old player aswell, but this "sideways" thing is great.
the switching from videos is slow as hell though. my old player went much faster. i think it's because my player and the fmp have the same processor, and i think that it takes more time because of the bigger lcd screen.
i dont know the audio quality because i dont have headphones for it. i'm lucky that i have the usb cable from my old sansa i got over a year ago from christmas, or i wouldn't be able to connect this thing. anyways i have normal sized headphones, and 2.5 mm headphones, not 3.5, so nothing could fit into the headphone jacks.
my overall rating for the Full Metal Platinum 1.8 is a 6/10
everything is a ten except the speed, and that's what totally brought it down. this is a good deal, but i'm gonna save my money up for a faster player.
i hope this really mini review was usefull. also, i can get pictures of this player if anybody wants because i dont have to return the player till tomorow.
