Meizu M6 vs Telcast T29, which is better?

The Meizu M6 and Telcast T29. Both seem to have similar prices and features. Both offer 4GB now, and 8GB soon. Is one better than the other?

PUSHPLAY DIGITAL 9th Mar 2007 4:47 pm

I like the Meizu but the Telcast is a great player. Just go for the look you like best .

nanocopyuser 9th Mar 2007 6:51 pm

I think that T29 has better sound due the dual chips. T29 is also very stylish and has a own look, unlike meizu that has copied iPodīs style. T29 is also smaller, wich makes it a bit more poratable. But Meizu has a bit larger screen. Both of these players are great. I will get a meizu m6 later though. I might would pick the t29 cuz its smaller. Now you decide! :P

If they cost the same, go for the Meizu.

The T29 does not have better sound than the M6, it has a better signal to noise ratio which in essence means (for regular users like us) that when using high-end sensitive headphones, we will hear more white noise on the Meizu.

The firmware and sound is better on the Meizu.

So if they cost the same, go for Meizu.

wow! I just won a 4gb meizu m6 on eBay for only $83 plus $15 shipping. I'm estatic; I heard these go for at LEAST $140 on houseofdap. If meizus are as good as people say they are, I'm going to be in heaven. Goodbye nanoclones, and hello meizu! Can't wait until it arrives.

...Relating the topic of discussion, as you can see I prefer the meizu to the telecast, even though I don't have either. It's just the meizu has a smoother look, bigger screen, and tactile scrollpad. It's just my opinion though and by no means am I knocking the telecast.

Congrats, you won a Meizu clone :) lol... If it is a real meizu, then that would rock!

I think that Teclast looks a bit smoother. And wow, they didn't copy apple like all chinese companies do lol.

Meh, both of these players are great. :P

no... I'm pretty sure it's a real meizu. Here's a link to the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...5795&rd=1&rd=1

I'll update when it arrives

nanocopyuser 10th Mar 2007 1:10 pm

omg....that's cheap... :)

Wow nice deal princessanne1026!

Another point that i feel the T29 is better, would be the controls. The M6 uses some touch sensitive navigation, whilst T29 uses a joystick button.
When I'm on the bus or walking, it is easy to just slip my hand into my pocket to flick the button to the next song or increase/decrease the volume. Not very sure how easy the M6 would navigate, you might need to take the player out to navigate, unless you are very very familiar with the player itself.

tadad1 10th Mar 2007 6:26 pm

While I only used the Teclast T29 for a week I found the joystick control clunky and cumbersome especially when trying to press the joystick straight down, the slightest bit of lateral movement activated the directional controls. The Meizu touch pad however I find quite accurate and easy to navigate.
The Teclast 2inch LCD has a anti-glare coating which is a little pointless as it is behind the glossy face plate which is reflective. The anti-glare just gives the LCD a grainy muted quality. The Meizu 2.4inch LCD renders a much cleaner sharper image quality.
With the latest firmware the Meizu includes album art support and 10 bar EQ visualization. The MP3 decoder has been optimised to improve performance and the player now delivers 24-28 hours continuous play depending on EQ, Bass-Treble Boost and 3D Spatializer sound settings.
Firmware updates for the Meizu are released more regularly with new features and bug fixes. OTG file transfer is currently under development which will enable file transfer without PC connection using the Meizu external power pack.
There is also an excellent theming community for thr Meizu at meizume.com which offers over 50 truly excellent customized themes for the M6.
Make Mine a MEIZU.

PUSHPLAY DIGITAL 10th Mar 2007 7:11 pm

Hello

For some reason I dont think you won a Meizu. Dont send the payment yet! Ask if its dane elec meizu or from meizu it self!)

1st.RETAILER THAT FULLY SUPPORTS MEIZO PRODUCTS. (Who is Meizo?)

2nd. All his other players is Newmen
(They sell a Meizu nockoff)

3rd.They say there are a USA Retailer.
(Then they would have a DANE ELEC Meizu or buy them direct from meizu)

Re: Meizu M6 vs Telcast T29, which is better?

PUSHPLAY DIGITAL - interesting... whoops I already sent payment  but I'll be sure to ask the questions. the "meizo" could just be a typo but who knows... yeah I'll make sure the player is as advertised or trust me, I'll be after them. But what's so bad about Dane-Elec?

lattesurf 10th Mar 2007 9:11 pm

Yes, i'll agree on the pressing part of the T29 control. Initially, i had alot of problems trying to press the joystick properly down to select. But once i got used to it, i could do it with my eyes closed.

But the Meizu seems to be much better in terms of firmware support and updates. With all the newer features provided, it would also be worth that extra few dollars over the Teclast players.

I hope this will cause the eBay Meizu sellers to stop. They are directly undermining Meizu's efforts to make it abroad (as a brand) through Dane-Elec by providing China-only prices to the world.

Don't they all..?

How much do you really know about chipsets? (Not trying to sound angry or whatever I sound like when you read this)

The chip is a MP3 heart, usually the main chip all include main control and the audio frequency processing ect.the basic functions .Mini Player adopt the Samsung control who base on ARM9 technic as its main control chip.the basic frequency is up to 200 MHz, can provide good support to video frequency decode.this main control chip build-in the 130MHz DSP--W8731L. That lord controls the chip inside placed the DSP- W8731L of the 130 MHzs.However Meizu persist in its high sound quality style all along, adopting top Philip audio frequency processor,it is infrequence that so luxurious decoding chip install in MP3

The double chips show disdain for all the others, function is comprehensive have no neglect the detail

Compared with other products of market, miniplayer not only have the beautiful external appearance, and the balance between the function and the capability is also slight better.

Meizu miniplayer inside adopt Samsung main control the S5L8700( main frequency of 200 MHzs+ the 120 MHz DSP) base on the ARM9s technical, and the inside of the main control have already included the audio processor Wolfson WM8731L,the choiceness capability and the low power dissipation of Wolfson WM8731L also adopted by alot of DVD/CD PLAYER.But the miniplayer do not hesitate the expense to give up to use the Wolfson WM8731L which have included the main control already, but add a Philip audio processor in addition, the audio decoding chip of Philip is the generally accepted sound quality performance currently best.So it's preeminent at the audio broadcast aspect. Although the decison condition of the sound quality good or bad is not only incarnate from the chip, but with Philip chip support, had the higher jumping-off doubtless.
Is that like 3?

Samsung S5L8700
Wolfson WM8731L
Philip audio processor/decoder

Same with iPods..etc.

well, just to ease any doubts, I DID receive a genuine white 4gb Meizu m6 today in the mail, 3 days after shipment. Granted it is Dane-Elec as pushplaydigital suggested, but I still haven't had any problems with it (it even came with FM radio, contrary to what some users with Dane-Elec meizus on the meizume forum said). Overall, I know I sound redundant, but the meizu is AMAZING. For $83 ($98 in total) it was a steal.
