Default Useful MPX player tip...

Copy your transcoder software right onto your player. You will then have it handy if you travel to another computer and want to convert some videos.

In fact, I don't even understand why they ship the players with a seperate CD anyway...

Because Windows 98, for example, won't recognize your player usb.

chiclete is on the ball!

Windows 98 has a basic USB function but still needs the driver to recognise devices like USB thumb drives and Mp3/4 players.
Believe it or not, Windows 98/SE is still a popular operating system. Mostly among gamers and enthusiasts who desire a simpler system that can handle high quality graphics. I only upgraded to Win XP Pro 12 months ago. I miss the simplicity of 98... but not it's look lol.
Yep.. good idea to have maybe a folder for software like AMV Converter that you can use while travelling around.
But if you didn't have a cd with those drivers on it, you would be up the proverbial 'creek' if all you had was a computer running Win 98, and then without internet... i don't even want to think about it
Now back to finding my players driver cd.. I know it's on my desk here somewhere under the clutter

Agreed , you are up the proverbial creek if you are running the 8 year old operating system, for many reasons, let alone usb drivers.

But for the rest of us it's a pretty handy thing to do.

Another thing, you can format the player's memory and clear everything inside by accident. But you can't "format" a CD that has been written.

But yeah, storing those apps on the player itself is pretty handy.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
