Looking for advice on MPx purchase

Hello,
I would really like to buy a 2GB or 4GB iPod style MPx player. I've seen so many people complain about hacked memory or long waits on shipping that I'm not sure where to buy from.

In the classified section on this site HubbleMart has this post.

Is he a trusted seller?

Any advice you have to offer on where to buy or on that model is greatly appreciated...

Do either of you have direct links?
Also I'm in the states.. Not sure if that needs to factor in or not..

Ok nevermind.. I found the links..

The meizu is too expensive.. For that price I can buy a gently used iPod or Zune...

The other one at Deal Extreme is too small.. I would like a 2GB minimum.

Is the link I posted above not an endorsed advertiser? $50 plus $14 shipping is a great deal if it's functional.. I would really like one like that..
I just dont want to get ripped off..

I wouldn't buy from Hubblemart. There is a huge red flag in their classified ad. They wrote:

I currently have a tie-up with UPS for shipping, which even after a 55% discount is a bit expensive (but very fast & works out cheap for multiple quantities).

I never buy from any seller that justifies or makes excuses for anything. I have to ask myself, 'if I have a problem with the product what kind of service can I expect'. Will I get excuses? If a seller justifies one thing and makes excuses you can be guaranteed they will do it again.

Not good.

That site is a rip-off deal. They offer "free shipping" but the final price is the same as everywhere. Second, a 1GB FMP costs 50 USD, when I change the currency into Euro, it will cost 55 Euro !!! According to the current exchange rates 50 USD is 37.5 Euro.

I've ordered the Optimus X, it shipped about a week ago, so I'm expecting it any day. I'll post again once I get it.

If you ordered with standard (4-14 days) shipping, don't expect it anytime soon. Today is 15 business days since shipping. If it doesn't arrive today, I'm emailing MP4Nation. I do a lot of trading via mail and have never had a package take this long to reach me.

I do hope it's worth the wait.

I got mine today.. They said it shipped on the 3rd. I'm in the Dallas area so 6 days isnt bad..

So far I have to say it's pretty cool. Navigating through the menu took me some time to get used to but it's not too bad. I uploaded an AVI to it and it wouldnt play. I had to resize it. Thats an understandable issue and once the movie was resized (took 15 minutes with app) it uploaded and played with no issues. Has anyone else ordered this player? It says @ ASK on the front and when you plug it in, it says RockChip USB... Any advice ????

I ordered another player through an Ebay seller that someone recomended in this thread.. I will report on it as soon as I get it.

sandpaperback 9th Apr 2007 3:17 pm

Haha. Mine arrived today as well, but since no one was here to sign for it, I have to pick it up tomorrow afternoon. I've already resized about a gig worth of video to toss on when I get it. Can't wait!

Brief update:

I received my Optimus X player today, it's even tinier (in a good way) than I expected. So far it seems great. The only issue I've had I *think* is just a matter of it not being fully charged yet. I had to unplug it from the computer a couple of times this afternoon and when it's not plugged in, if I turn it off it won't turn back on. I'm giving it a full charge now, hopefully that takes care of it.

I'm going to try and do a short video review later tonight.

Re: Looking for advice on MPx purchase

Javo & Sandpaperback: I am happy to hear that you like the players, please remember when creating videos to use the program on the CD (or download the correct converter) your files have to be xvid in a 320x240 resolution.

Sandpaperback: Sorry if your player arrived a few days later than scheduled, we were temporarily out of stock of the Optimus X.

Javo: As for your play list issue, as i said in the email, the best way is to arrange the files via windows explorer on your player in the order you want. If your looking to have a playlist for music for 'working out' or 'heavy metal' etc then the best way is to create separate folders on your player and place the music you want in each. Then when in the audio function mode press menu and choose a specific folder to play from. You can also select the folder and then select shuffle to play randomly from that selected folder.

Javo, Sandpaperback and anyone else here is a coupon to take $5 off your next purchase above $50 at MP4 Nation: 66UBPWT

sandpaperback 11th Apr 2007 2:49 pm

No worries about the shipping. I emailed you about it yesterday. Anyway, it was worth the wait and I'm definitely recommending you and the player to people. I might buy another for my wife at some point.

It looks great, sounds great, and the ebook function is really useful at work. :-)

Thank you!
