Consideration points about firmware update
 
Hi friends.
I want to learn which points to take in consider about firmware update (ex.. chipset ,memory.....)

1 Key point/rule about firmware updates: Don't do it!

There is only 1 exception to that rule and that is, if you can extract your firmware without errors using s1fwx, you can update your players own firmware by theming it, changing the way it looks.

No matter what you think or have been told, a firmware 'update' will most likely do damage rather than fix. A firmware update will not magically give your player more capabilities, longer battery life, improve sound etc. There are too many different versions out there and you risk flashing the wrong version.. and that risk is very very high.

So just leave it alone.

I second _Odyssey's comments.

If your player is doing fine and working, I would say leave it as it is.

You only need to read the [Dead Players] section of this forum to see how many are left with dead players once trying to upgrade the firmware on their player with one that isn't compatible.

OK I understand it.
Always use your own firmware!
but when i extract my glacier firmware (9.0.43) S1res doesn't show logores, endres boot images and some menu bmp
