Is the USB soldered correctly? See PIC

I bought this 2GB ipod nano clone MP4 in bangkok, but my computer wont recognise it. It comes up at dirve H: but i cant see any of the files, i cant put any files on and when i click on the properties its says file system unknown, used and free space and capacity are 0 bytes.
I opened it up as i suspect the usb is at fault as many different usb cable have the same result. I took a photo of the usb, is this soldered correctly?
Any help appreciated, thanks :?

rbluesy77 , format the player using Windows first.
Connect the player via USB, then right click on My Computer selecting Manage.
Next, expand Storage > Disk Management from the list on the left.
You should see the player's drive appearing as a RAW drive on the right.
Right click on the RAW drive and select Format.

lattesurf, thanks for your help, I tried what you said but the drive does not appear in "disk managment". (it appears in "my computer" allthough i can access it) The screen on the mp4 just stays at the connect screen but unlike my wifes mp4 the arrows dont appear, that is why i suspect a fault at the usb.

rbluesy77 , you'll need to check again and see if the 5 pins at the bottom of the picture are actually soldered to the board.

If they are, try using another USB cable and see if the problem still occurs.

Lattesurf. It was hard to see with the naked eye so I took the photo and zoomed in, judging by the photo i think some of the pins contact have broken off from the board. From left to right it looks like pins 1 and 5 are ok but the middle three are suspect. Does anyone know what each pin does? Thanks

rbluesy77 , from the orientation of the picture, it would be a 5pin Mini B socket, might be a Mini A, not very sure unless you have more pictures.

From left to right in the picture:
Pin1 - 0V
Pin2 - ID
Pin3 - Data In
Pin4 - Data Out
Pin5 - +5V

It does seem that the pins on both ends are connected, but not the middle 3. Are you able to charge the player? For data transfer, pins 3 & 4 are most important.

i'll suggest that you get the 5 pins re-soldered again.
