Default Oh BTW. Hello!

Hi. I'm Amigajoe and I'm happy to be a new member of this board. I got my first mp4 player about 4 months ago after looking at them on ebay for a long time. It was an r4US if that means anything. Anyway, I really liked it and showed it around, other people liked it too and asked me to get one for them. A few months later now I buy and sell them fairly regularly, mostly to friends, though i'm now looking to expand. Because of this little business i probably buy many more of them than most of you so I've seen/used lots of different models, etc. I'd be happy to answer any questions i can along that line, but I'll have plenty myself! Look forward to getting around the board!

Hi Amigajoe,

Welcome to the board.

Thanks for offering your help. The more help the better .

What would be good, since you have a number of players, can you share with us the FIRMWARE for them? I'm sure others can use them to recover their player.

I'd be happy to help. I'll need a little guidance as to how I extract the firmware. Everything I've read reccomended not trying to upgrade it so I haven't relly messed with that part of things...

Extracting firmware is fine. It's only when you start upgrading your player with someone else's firmware or with an incompatible firmware you risk killing your player.

Extracting only just extracts the firmware from your player into a file and doesn't actually change anything in your player.

Amigajoe,

this is the guide to extracting your firmware > http://www.mympxplayer.org/how-to-ex...tool-vt66.html

Note that only fw versions 9.0.43 and lower can be extracted from an mp4 player. Versions above that eg: 9.0.48, 9.0.50 etc can't be extracted correctly using this method. These versions are usually only obtainable from the manufacturer.
