Poll: How did you find out about this site?

Hi everyone,

I am very interested to know how you found out about this site.

I see a lot of messages like "I found out about this site after I've found my player had problems and has been hacked".

So, I would be very interested to know how you found out about this site. That way, I can find ways to improve the presence of this site on the internet. More importantly, find ways to get the message about this site and about hacked players out to would-be buyers and warn them BEFORE they buy that "8GB player for USD$50"! :).

I had just purchased a player and was looking for conversion software as I wanted to be able to plug something onto it as soon as it came through the door.

I think the search was something like "MP4 player .avi conversion" or something like that.

Found it at google, and I think I entered terms such as "MP4 Players" and "Buy MP4 Players"

About 6 months ago i was looking online to buy a new mp3 player. I was looking at the popular and reliable Australian online discount store dealsdirect.com.au (no relation to deals-directinc.com).
I saw a link to Uxcell marked "cheapest mp3/4 players" advertised on thier site. I checked it out but wanted a bit more info before i placed an order. I entered a few search terms into Google and it brought me here. :)

I did some searching on the players, and found the site s1mp3.org. After looking for some themes, I found mympxplayer.org.

just like nachoman, I found the forum s1mp3.org first after I purchased my first mp4 player from campus111.com just about a year ago. Then I searched around some more because s1mp3 wasn't answering all my questions and found this site about a day later while looking for the video software that mp4 players used. It's been one of the best support sites I've ever found.

I bought a nano clone too hastily off of Ebay. Then I read the feedback comments and someone complained about a hacked" player and left this url.

After checking out this site and learning about all the hacks, I asked the seller if he could guaranty the memory... he couldn't so I was able to cancel the order.
Thanks

I bought a hacked player off of eBay. I couldn't figure out why I was having Format Errors when trying to play a video. I googled 'format errors on MP3 players' and stumbled across this site.

Could not stop my mp3 player from crashing and restarting after loading it up with large mp3 files.

So started to do a google search for info, and stumbled across this site via link on xobox

i personally google searched for "chipod" before i bought a "chano" and this was the first link. i have not been anywere else unless it was referenced from here.

i ended up buying from "lotsall" on ebay after a couple people i know recomended "lotsall" because they were "true 4GB". that was June 19th. I am still waiting on it to show up.

great resource you have going here and i hope to contribute in the near future.

I was reading the feedback on eBay on a guy selling MP4 players and Media cards etc at 99p with free postage. I thought this well suspicious and I was correct. No way I was gonna buy from this rip off merchant after reading stuff written by rob.

So thanks Rob, you saved me some dosh. So what is this site??? I need to go look around a bit. Looks okay so far.

Format Errors were my problem... After doing a google search for it i found even out, how a video can be converted and played. i had no manual and cd delivered with the player. Still no problem, because i just payed EUR 35,-- (USD ~28,--) incl postage for the 2 GB CHIPOD, Model 3

Long long time ago when ekon released a 512mb mp4 player (which my little brother wanted) i was finding info about it

smadge1 17th Jul 2007 7:36 am

I saw a sale come up on ebay for the strangest thing, I usually dismiss them as creepy, but this one was talking about MP4 players and fakes. Having just bought two I thought I was happy with, it tweaked a far off memory of dire warnings about fake media players. Next thing I know, I'm here.

I wish now I'd been able to pay the $0.99 for that information, because it was worth a lot more.

I can't even remember how i got to this forum. But i vaguely recall that i was searching for some player hacks/mods after i got my nano-clone last sept. Read up on the memory issues, formatted my player and bingo 4GB to 2GB, so i got hooked to the forum since.

I was looking for a way to revive my hacked MP4 player bought from red-vision  and I think I googled it. It`s an excellent site and has been really usefull to me and a lot of other people. I didn`t manage to revive my player because the dog got it first and chewed up the screen, probably the best thing for it.

pmilladcs 20th Jul 2007 10:52 pm

i found it on google, when i couldn't find a amv convert tool. or, if it wasn't that, i think i was trying to make it look like an iPod.

Bochi 24th Jul 2007 6:18 am

i found it accidentally with google^^

Re: Poll: How did you find out about this site?

I used google to search if a newer firmware for my MP4 player is available.
Search words were "rockchip firmware" and "rockchip rfw"
