Creative goes MPx - new Creative ZEN

Specs here.

Looks like a nice player. Compared to the generic players we all know and love, this one will probably add a decent library function, good battery life, and firmware support (although with Creative this is a mixed blessing for those who want to keep all their features...). The downsides seems to be the usual no radio recording (who the h*ll 'pirates' music off FM?!) and the annoyance of MTP-only file transfer.

Tentative pricing @ $150, $200, and $300 for 4GB, 8GB, and 16GB of flash memory respectively. A step in the right direction from one of the mainstream players after the decidedly underwhelming likes of Creative Zen V(+) and the SanDisk Sansa e2x0. Still, I'd probably get a Meizu M6 before considering this one...

Now that's a nice looking player. I'm happy with my Meizu though.

Heh. Sound quality will probably be fine. Creative have been quite good in that regard.

The nice thing about the Mezus, though, is that they (eventually, after a firmware upgrade or two) managed to combine good sound quality in a package with both the no-nonsense features (no proprietary junk, forced MTP, or whatnot) of the chinese players and the sleek user friendliness and music organization capabilities of the established names. Hope they're not forced to compromise on this in the future.
