Default Newman K8 2.4" video+nes emultor

Hi,
I was planing to change my Philips Mp3 player that I've had and loved for the last two years and I stumbled upon the MP4 player lunacy. I'm absolutely hooked with the specs on these things !!! :!:

Now, in my browsing around i've found this on a site (i'm in Romania):
JOY 888

Personally i think it's a clone of the Newman Newsmy K8 because they have identical form factors, (i like the psp look) and specs:
Newman K8

Does anyone know something about the players? Are they quality made?
Rockchip or crapy-chip??

And what's with the map viewer?? :?:

Anyways, your oppinios are welcome because in one week time the supplier will have new stock.

ionesculxndr , i couldn't load the JOY888 site, only the K8. From the specs, it seems that it is a Sunplus chipset player. As usually most camera enabled players are Sunplus. It should be reasonably good, but do take note that there are no tools for Sunplus players. So you accidentally brick them, you'll have a big headache trying to recover it.

I'm not really sure what the map reader does. But i think it should be something like loading an image file, and you can scroll around the map. Something like a digital map, or maybe something like Google Earth.

It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.

Wow! Then my big mistake... I didn't know that there were specific chip-sets for camera-enabled MP4 players.

Anyway, since you say that the player is less "salvageable" in case of a crash i've been scouting for other alternatives in the same price range (90$):

-Meizu M6: a little bit more expensive (115$) and with less specs: video capabilities capped at 20 FPS, no SD slot, less customization options, BUT with better battery and more firmware support;

-Newman Q90 (meizu m6 clone): less expensive (60$), Rockchip, better video, expansion slot (miniSD), customizable look and firmware, but weaker battery (can be swapped though) and the danger of giving up on you, firmware-wise.

So if you were me, which one would you chose, because i'm in a slump right now and can't decide.
Is it wort it to risk buying a no-name brand for better specs or should i stick with something i know there is lots of support?

ionesculxndr , usually Rockchip players are quite reliable provided you don't mess around with the firmware. Recovering Rockchip players have slightly better chance than Sunplus, but no less of a headache too.

You can read up more of the M6 here http://www.meizume.com/showthread.php?t=12

The other alternative would be Teclast, as far as Meizu and Teclast are concerned, they are by far the most reliable. Also, both of these brands provide regular firmware updates.

In general, if you purchase them over the internet, be sure to purchase from a reliable source with reasonable warranty terms.
