2.4" player from Ebuyer. Is it .AVI? is it .AMV??

Hi,

I have stumbled across this thing from Ebuyer:

Initially, I passed over it as I thought it was an AMV player. However, having read the specs, and the reviews, it seems it might actually be an AVI format player. Does anyone here have this player?? The price of this model ( and the 2GB one) is tempting - but not if it's AMV !! :?

iixorbiusii , it is likely a Sunplus chipset as there is also a camera, which is commonly found in Sunplus. Also, it supports both .avi and .3gp video format which is common to Sunplus.

How would you rate Sunplus?? I have various Rockchips, a Meizu M6 and some Action players - and the Actions sit well below the other two types ! Where would you place Sunplus Chipset players, and can they actually handle .avi / xvid rather than .amv etc ??

Currently i have a Teclast which is the Telechips version but plays xvid (which in a way quite similar to Rockchip), Sunplus (.AVI & .3gp) and Actions (.AMV).

Both the Teclast videos and Sunplus videos are quite the same. Sunplus supports upto 30FPS, so videos appear to be quite smooth.

Definitely video-wise, .AMV format could not be compared to .AVI format.

I'll probably rank Rockchip & Sunplus side by side in terms of video quality. However, Rockchip would still have a slight advantage as the xvid codec allows much smaller sized video files as compared to the pure .avi for Sunplus. i encoded a 3minute+ video at 30FPS (2.4" size), resulted in a filesize of 30MB!
