v9.xx Player Reliability

Have anyone noticed the recent trend of v9.xx players dying for no apparent reason?

I've seen many cases where after a few weeks of usage, the player just refuses to start, or show the ever so familiar hour glass. This happens even though it has been properly formatted to remove any hacks.

From my memory, I don't recall the v3.xx players acting this way. Most were because of wrong firmware updates, or due to the memory hack corrupting the firmware. My v3.xx gen1 clone is still working upto today, about 13 months after i bought it.

Poor hardware quality?
Or poor firmware coding?

yea lattesurf u are right...the 9.x.xx is not quite reliable...in my place...my friends r turning to rockchip players than action based chipset players..i do think that this happens cause of the poor hardware specs. in the player itself..i also own 3.5.37 player...and i bought it january last year...and it is still working fine...great player..i have modded it many times..and even brick it...and still working fine till now

Both, I guess... These players are directed to a audience that cannot afford a iPod or simply want to mod a player, and modding is yet out of the question...
However, this is not lethal (if you only use them for music and such), cause if you buy one in a store you will get your money back or get a new one...

I have v9 MP3 player..its Zicplay Minikey 1GB without FM,and since first day I bought it it refuses to start...i don't know why!? Absolutely nothing happens..just like its broken-down. But I found the way to turn it on...I just have to keep pressing almost all buttons for 15min,and it turns on and works perfectly!? In my case there is joystick on left side of player (it has functions like: Prev.; Mode; Next) and that is all I'm pressing to turn it on....of course, first I try to start it normally but it usually doesn't works. Well,if someone has same problem you can try it,it work with my player...i mean, It used to work cause i changed firmware and now it doesn't work at all:( Btw, my player's processor is ACU7503 and memory chip SAMSUNG 643...so if anyone has any idea what to do to make it work, please pm to me! My originale firmware was 9.1.xx-not sure about this "xx"! Good luck! dzanopantera@yahoo.com
