Re: Inside the Optimus Cosmic player (2.4" 240x340)...
It's said that this player is also compatible with Linux... some post above... I don't know what to be Linux compatible means... :?

Re: Inside the Optimus Cosmic player (2.4" 240x340)...
Most Rock Chip and Action players I know of are Linux compatible, as long as the music formats aren't laden with DRM and thus require "special" firmware to use, such as Apple's iPods... :P

Re: Inside the Optimus Cosmic player (2.4" 240x340)...
Linux
when i say "linux" i regard to these chips i mean that the operating system on the player itself is linux. Have you ever seen linux for ipod, this would be the same they would use linux, albeit very stripped down version, to produce all the GUI and applications on the player. this means that the potential to create custom applications for players using these chips is possible, not just that, once the open source community get involved almost anything could be added to the players im not sure if the chip in your is running linux but actions also have 2 more chips in the mix which do run linux - to what extent i dont know, wwe will have to wait and see. if you wonder over to the linux ipod page and have a look what has been done there and just think that maybe the new actions chips could be added to / customised in the same way http://ipodlinux.org/Special:Module these are only thought and ideas at the moment and who knows what will happen, maybe none of this is possible, we will have to wait and see the link below shows a little info on the actions 2137 (next one up from Daremoses) and mentions linux here (just so people dont think im going mad!!) linux on actions |
I hope the "actions 2137" turns out to be real.
This would be so much more than Linux compatible, it would actually have a Linux OS which means we would be in "Modding Heaven" we would be not only able to mod the way the player looks, but also the way it operates, a bit like the "OpenMoko" cell phone. This actions 2137 is just the kind of player I have been dreaming of! |
more i read the more i want to find a player with this new chipset, but i've still had no luck finding any player with it.
The 'new' action chips i was talking about are not eh 2137 - infact they seem quite old and redundant compared to this new chip. |

EDIT... If I am not wrong Ainol V950 is also based of Actions ATJ2135... with an extra... it support touchscreen being sort of mix between Onda VX858 and Ainol V900 as it sports a screen of 2.8". I've seen another unbranded ATJ2135 with 2.8" screens. I have firmware from Ainol V800 that I would like to try as I haven't able to found the implementation for NES games that is shown in prototypes of ATJ2135, saw here: http://daremos.vtrbandaancha.net/Groven2410_NES.jpg |
Wow!! This is amazing! Where can I get one these players? Can they be set to English?

Re: Inside the Optimus Cosmic player (2.4" 240x340)...
just ordered Ainol v900
i had totally promised my poor wallet that i would give no more grief, but could not resist!! i had sent a dead rockchip player back for replacement but did not arrive, after a quick email session with the seller i got my cash back. i added another $15 to it and got the Ainol v900 now, i know this is a little pricey compared to ABSOLUTE bargin that Daremos got but this has the advantage of being from a known manufacturer, and firmware updates should be available - they are already looking to integrate FLV support as soon as possible. got it from www.i-yotta.com, a new site to me so i have warned them that i will be posting a review of them, their stock. delivery etc as soon as my sale is complete. anyway a couple of google translated links about the v900 from Ainol web site Ainol v900 link 1 Ainol v900 link 2 i will post my experiences with this player as soon as i can ps. i think we need to send Daremos back to the shop where he got his player and get him to buy a bulk load - then we can all have one and join this new party (don't expect you to pay for them though!!) |
Re: Inside the Optimus Cosmic player (2.4" 240x340)...
Congratulations makd511... you will have some extras with Ainol V900, as it is a removable battery, surely a Nokia BL-4C, which can be charged out of the player and inserted when needed.
I have no doubt that manufacture of Ainol is better than my unbranded, ie: I bet that Mini SD slot house in a better way the card. I hope that Ainol have solve some problems playing APE files. In my player ending APE playing of one song... the player get locked :). Another good thing is that Ainol is publishing its firmwares. So you will have upgrades from time to time. I will be pretty aware because Ainol is announcing support for FLV videos. I hope you receive your player with firmware backup. :D |
