Never mind, a copy and paste pulled up what I think is all of. Here it is:

"LIST PRICE" is the suggested retail price provided to us by our suppliers. We make no representation that a substantial number of these products have been sold or offered for sale at the list price. Actual retail prices in your area may be substantially different. Because we sell our merchandise over the internet on a national basis, it is not possible to know if our merchandise is sold at list price in any particular location or at any particular time. "YOU SAVE" reflects the difference between our price and the supplier provided list price shown on our sites. Because the list price may be different than the actual retail prices in your area, you may not actually realize a savings of this amount and may want to make an exact comparison for yourself by checking the prices of other internet or local retailers prior to making a purchase.

Hmm, seems I found their loophole. It cuts the disclaimer off at "Because the list price may be different than the actual retails prices in your area, you may..."

Wouldn't be surprised it whoever has ordered this gets another bill for the whole amount. The $99 is most likely a pre-order hold.

"List Price" doesn't have anything to do with what you pay. They just show a "List Price" so you can see how much money you are saving. The price you pay is listed under "Our Price"....which is $99.

Zune's play any and all DRM free MP3's...
err..Brew, might be wrong about this but doesn't it wrap them up in DRM again if you try to send them to a mate for example?

I hope you're right Brew. It's just very hard to believe that a 30gb player is selling for $99 regardless of newer models coming into stock. 8gb players don't even sell for that. You might be correct on the List Price Disclaimer. It's all in the interpretation I guess. What I got out of it is that it could be used as an easy out option should they decide to tack on additional charges. After you pointed it out, I can also see your interpretation of it. Regardless, let us know how it goes and your thoughts on the Zune when you get it. 8)

Yes the Zune will apply a 3 day DRM to shared files that are wirelessly sent from one Zune to another.....but I don't think I've even seen another person with a Zune  , and don't expect to do much (if any) sharing. Besides, other MP3 players can't do that anyway.

I'm sure there's even a hack to get around it if you really want to share wirelessly.

I don't understand your ranting. :?

You NEVER have to BUY anything to use this as an MP3 player, or even video player. It will play all downloaded (illegal or not) and ripped MP3's. You never even have to turn the WiFi on if you don't want to.....in fact, just leave it off and save battery life.

I don't see any downsides. :?

OK, as a first post I will try to explain this........
What they are saying is that their price is compared to the price the manufacturer would like it to sell at. "Our price vs. MSRP". Fortunately the MSRP is often much higher that the price you will find at local stores or other online retailers. That is why you might not get the savings they advertise, you might be able to find it at another online store for $10 more and therefore be only saving that $10. The price they advertise is the actual price you pay, I have bought other items from them that had a similar savings and have never had a reserving fee such as you are thinking of.

The above is not to further the profits of Microsoft in any way, I do not now or ever will own a Microsoft product unless it is bought second-hand.

I suppose the beauty of open forums such as this is that we all have the opportunity to pass on our beliefs and opinions no matter how relevant, irrelevant, educated, misinformed, biased, opinionated or otherwise they may be.
Even taking into account any negatives the Zune may be perceived to have this is still an excellent deal and an opportunity for many jaded chipod users to branch out into a range of players that would usually be beyond their budget.
Like myself I am sure many chipod owners have spent a lot more dollars buying multiple "low cost" players only to find most of them severely lacking or misrepresented one way or another.

WOW! Refurbished one's just went up on woot.com for $79.00: http://www.woot.com/ These won't be up for long, as stuff on woot.com usually only stays up for a day or two.

These refurbished one's will ship when you purchase them, unlike the new one's on buy.com that ship on Nov. 19th. If I hadn't already ordered a brand new one from buy.com, I would really consider a refurbished one from woot.com.

Now...who can beat a 1 year factory warrantied 30GB MP3 player for $80??
