First off, I'm not some kind of weird Zune supporter, and don't even like Micro$oft all that much, but alot info being posted here is fairly incorrect.

The first gen Zunes will be able to utilize the second gen's firmware. That firmware will add a few features that the first gen Zune didn't have.

The Zune will be able to play other movie formats than WMV:
"Users no longer need to transcode file types to wmv as there are now native video codecs for h.264 and mpeg4."

The Zune is supposed to use a Zune-specific software, but many people have found ways around using it, and can access it's hard drive directly.

As far as audio quality....well I think you need to post more than one or two personal reviews. It does have a Wolfson DAC:

"If you are serious about audio quality the Zune is the best out of current offerings, with a 24/96 Wolfson DAC and 1 watt output. My sennheissers glow from using it."

"QFT, the Zune sounds better than any of the iPods I have owned"

"PROS:
1. Absolutely AWESOME audio quality for such a small device, very dynamic and clear without any harsh sound."

I'm sure the sound will definitely be as good as any Chinese player that I can buy for $99.00.

Now the question of the day, does anyone know why these players are going so cheap?

I'm think maybe the BROWN version of the Zune isn't popular?

Don't know about you guys, but a brown player just doesn't look all that nice as brown reminds me of something else..........

Can you imagine a brown HiFi system/component? What about a brown DVD player or LCD TV? Hum........

LOL Bihn! It does look kinda bad...

Exactly! DRM/musical restrictions aside, the Zunes are just butt-ugly. I'm thinking either primary colors or snappy, bright ones are going to catch the eye of most potential buyers of these players. I can't imagine what Microsoft's rationale was for choosing BROWN as one of the Zune's primary colors. I'm guessing that they were trying to be "different" than the competition, but seriously...

Alot of people actually prefer the brown, to the balck and white. Here's a chart from Amazon sales back in May (before the recent discounts) for hard drive based MP3 players. The BROWN Zune came in second:

"Brown Zune maybe the MOST popular?

It appears that retailers are beginning to discount the Black and White Zune. The Brown Zune however continues to be sold for $249. Could this signal that Microsoft has been successful marketing the Zune as a more "alternative" media player."

How can reviews be so different?
The one I've posted in completely different than of Brew Swillis'!!!
My source seems to be a know source as it is http://www.anythingbutipod.com/ and not a personal one.
Aren't professionals the guys of this site?... or are they paid from another manufacturer?
This is the kind of things that I hate from merchandising, at the end the user is abused by some sort of "reviewers" and absolutely mislead.
