Sigmatel seems to have less firmware problems. It doesn't get the famous "hourglass of death".

I personally prefer ACTIONS chipset players as there are more tools available to modify them. The button configurations make better sense than on the Sigmatel based players.

of course there is now a new actions chip out, ATJ2135 to try and rival the sigmatel and so far is quite good

i do not know sigmatel and have never had a player with one but i have not heard great thing about them

so my opinoin is biased towards the new actions ATJ2135, designed for 2.4" screens. very very different to the other actions chips we know and love!!

I have a Sigmatel player and it's pretty good, except for a few bugs in the playlist function (but it's probably just my firmware). It cannot be killed by an incompatible firmware, you can always restore it easily if you have a backup.

Also, the video quality of Sigmatel players is far superior than that of Actions ones. Although i'd go with a Rockchip if i were you. :P

video play on the new actions chips is very good, they use AVI xvid same as the rockchips, but has also very good FLV playback, the advantage with the new actions chips is that they also support mini SD cards, playlists, music database and organization

check out the pages below for info on the new actions chip - we are not talking nano clones here, actions have stepped up a notch and are at last becoming a little more credible

Hängyord , the ATJ2093 is a common Actions chipset of the v9.xx series firmwares. Nothing really special about it, does the same jobs.

Why are clones called MP4 Players, when they don`t play .MP4 at all?
It`s like an MP3 Player which plays Music CDs only.
