Default What is the real memory size

Hi - I bought an 8GB Nano 3rd Gen Clone.

Now I understand that it really isnt an 8GB model even though it was sold as one.

Sure enough I formatted it using the HP USB Storage Format Tool - and it showed as 2GB.

Fine I thought - 2GB is enough for me.

Though I can't get more than 550 - 600 MB of stuff on there. It just won't accept any more files. (All MP3's so far)

Windows Explorer still shows that it has 1.4GB free or so.

So is there a further memory hack going on here or am I missing something else?

Thanks for reading and hopefully I can understand this better soon.
