Can the firmware be extracted off the and is it interchangable between models?

I know there has been some success modding the onda VX747 player, but is having a backup firmware a must, like the Rockchip players?

wooohoo, at last, catn wait for this to happen, wish we could see the same progress for the meizu aswell

as for the other players of ingenics chips, i dont think we can extract the firmware, but dont quote me on that one
I have sen these players for sale by small chinese manufactures though so maybe one of them will have a firmware to download
