Onda 4GB clone BLACK MP3/MP4 2.8" TOUCHSCEEN

I bought a Onda 4gb mp4 clone, no cam..from ebay.
My problem is that I flashed it with the wrong firmware, now the touch screen
will not respond and can not get it in software upgrade mode.

Came with CD firmware nofm BO-25002-V003H-L12

Here are the chip sets:
Rockchip = RK2608A
Samsung 813 = (K9HBG08U1A PCBO0
ETRONTECH = EM636165TS-6G

If your player is DEAD try this

There are some more firmwares for this type of player here:-
http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1967
(not guaranteed to work and might brick your player)

Also a very good recovery guide :-

ADMIN

is there a possibility of putting something on the main page, a warnng about updating these types of player.
we are seeing so many now and with there being so many different versions its almost impossile to fix th problem
we see alot on mp4nation forums also and its a real problem, i dont know what you think but it may stop a few people from bricking their players and stop them before it starts to go all pear shaped, i can make a warning banner if needed

chronic, sorry to hear about your problems, hope you get it sorted soo, try those links that knob gave you but i think they may not work as therre ar now many more differnt version of this player now an those firmwares seem not to work for many

good luck

Yes makd511, I think we are fighting a losing battle with these players.

Part of the problem I think is the attraction of player modding, I have to admit I'm hooked on modding myself.

All I can suggest if you want to mod DON'T buy this type of player, 'cause your gonna BRICK it if you mess with firmware, there are just too many variants, most of them very poorly made.

Best players to buy are the new RK27xx series (new Rockchip), they are just as cheap too.

I'm gonna order one myself to play around with, but at least you can back up your firmware safely, BEFORE you start playing with firmware.

Oh. btw makd511, noticed all the good work you've been doing with the new Rockchip, its gonna make life with these players a lot easier

Cheers knob

Hi chronic

Have you tried this method to get into rockUsb recovery mode:-

All you do is this,

1) Switch the player OFF using the main on/off switch.

2) Hold down the "MENU" or the "PLAY" button and keep it held down.(try the other buttons if these dont work)

3) Connect the usb to the player.

4) Wait for about 10 seconds before releasing the button.

5) You should be now in "ROCK USB" upgrade mode

6) Then just start ConsumerUpdate and upload your firmware.
or if this doesn't work try a "Hard Recovery" as in this guide.

Good Luck, I hope this will work for you.

Hi Knob

Thanks for the comments, i have found out quite alot about the new chips and players now, but mai ly been reporting and posting on mp4nation.net forums.

Now these new rockchip 27 series players are turning up in unbranded form i will be posting here a bit more as i see mp4nation as a branded support site and this a place for unbranded, so i hope you dont think me a traitor :)

its great that we can now access the firmware on the player with little file called "rkusb.tag", but i am unsure if AL unbranded ones wil work the same, i have ordered myself a VX747 rockchip clone from tinydeal to see what these unbranded players accept and wont accept

BTW, on mp4nation i am maderin1, pop over and say hello, or are you a member already

cheers and hopefuly we wil not have as many problems with firmwares on these newer players than the old rockchip 26 series - wishful thinking :)

The player is not dead, I am locked out due to flashing wrong Onda firmware, the touch screen will not respond and non of the buttons will function. can't get into upgrade mode.
ConsumerUpdate says : usb not found!
-under my computer shows as : removable disk
-under device manager, shows as : RockChip USB MP# USB Device
tried soft boot and hard boot.
