Ok I made my decision now
I'm going to buy this one
http://cgi.ebay.nl/NEW-GENUINE-8GB-8...QQcmdZViewItem

Is this an ok one this is the one with the different menu but tv-out
What I believe is that the core is the same so it should be capable of playing the same things right?

Ok, just give the player a good looking over when you get it to make sure it's as advertised, a lot of ebay seller's are not honest with the description.

You should get TV-out and 3gp support extra which I don't have on my player.

The back is just plain enamelled steel like the ebay photo, not very pretty but it doesn't scratch.

Good luck with your buy and let us know your opinion of it.

specs seem a little off on the video formats

the general ones are
FLV, RM, RMVB AVI(xvid, divx)

now, with updates and later firmwares we have
3gp, mp4, ASF, and a couple of others

so we will have to wait and see what your player can actually do

I only need Divx and Xvid tough, as that are the most common formats I deal with
I don't even know what ASF is, MP4 would be nice tough, not that I use it much but it's a known format

So, I bought a player that looks just like this from an eBay auction. On the back, it says it's a DMTECH DM-MP910. I decided to play around with loading different firmware (after saving the current firmware). So now it just has a black screen. I tried to recover it with the RK27Upgrade v2.5 tool. The tool loaded the firmware OK, but I still have the black screen. So, what's the Rock27Boot.bin boot code that comes with that package? Does it need to match the firmware that I took from the drive? Are there other versions of this boot code that I can try?

Update:

OK, I tried something else. I first ran the RK27DM.exe tool that came with the V2.5 upgrade, which also included a TL-T50.RKW file. After doing that, I was able to copy the rkusb.tag and teclast.sys files to the player, and after I unplugged and plugged it back in, I was able to get access to the partition that contains the firmware. I deleted all that and copied in the firmware that I had saved. It still doesn't work, but this time, it locks up on a red screen instead of black. And now the main partition is messed up, and Windows wanted me to reformat it. Is there another RKW file that I can play around with?

When your player is dead you can use the "R" button on RK27DM.exe (Rockchip Device Manager) program just to get your player into rockUSB mode - (monitor this in remove hardware icon manager)
Click the image to open in full size.
Then you can use the Upgrade tool to install the firmware folders (no rkusb.tag needed)

download upgrade tool here:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...v25-df881.html

Player needs to be in RockUsb mode to use this, remember to check this in remove hardware icon manager)
Click the image to open in full size.

So

1) If your player is dead and your firmware partition is damaged then connect it to usb.
2) Run RK27DM.exe and load in any RKW firmware.
3) If the R button is active just press it, (if no R button is active then install the rockusb27.sys driver)
4) Click YES on the 2 message boxes that come up and watch for the RockUsb icon (in remove hardware)
5) when you get the icon close the RK27DM.exe program (still with the RockUSB icon active)
6) Run the upgrade tool you just downloaded.
7) Load firmware folders into upgrade tool.
8 ) Press the upgrade button and watch it do it's thing
9) When finished you just need to format the main 8GB memory in Fat 32

and you're Done! 8)

I used this method to recover my player when i corrupted the firmware by shutting the pc down with the player connected.. ops: It worked a treat for me, but remember it doesn't work if your firmware partition is good. but you can use teclast.sys or rkusb.tag on a good partition instead..
