Be careful here. If the seller sends you a firmware it could be the wrong one and you dont yet have a backup of the working firmware on your player.

There is a way to check if it's the right one at the end of REGISTER.DAT if you do get sent a firmware from the seller, then you should be able to find the correct .tag name at the same time.

Yes I'll watch the Firmware file with a Hex Editor for any .tag name and then try out if it works on my player if it works I'll back up and install if not I won't even try

By the way my player doesn't have an Hold Switch, it has two power off buttons but now hold(Shutdown by removing power source, Hold PlayPause button is normal shutdown saying Goodbye)
I'd like it more if the Switch would be used as keylock switch and just only use playpause hold to poweroff

Edit:

Also some more info about my player, it also plays Flac I don't know if it's special tough

And if somebody can tell me possible video formats which this rockchip can support but some firmwares haven't got it I'll try those formats
I thought ASF was one of those formats right? because ASF works just fine on my players

So far I tested:
AVI Divx 5.0 - Works
ASF - Works
MP4 - Works

I'm still amazed by this player that it can do so much for the same price in my country you get a Cheap brand MP3(Small no color screen) if you pick 8GB
Tough it makes me worry it will break fast(The price is just unreal)

Edit:
Tested some more so now:

So far I tested:

Video formats:
AVI Divx 5.0 - Works
ASF - Works
MP4 - Works
AVI Divx 6.0 - Tried Lastmanstanding.divx sample from Divx, Didn't work changed name to Lastmanstanding.avi and it did work
MOV - Didn't work it showed loading bar but it and it kept going on and I couldn't go back so had to shut down Player(Mov was file directly from my iSight Cam in my macbook)
3GP - Works
WMV - Works

Audio formats:
MP3 - duh works
Flac - Works
AAC - Works
OGG - Works

Oh and my File explorer can delete files Dunno if that's normal or some extra

I think you already have a much improved firmware.

My player looks the same as yours but doesn't do audio resume, video resume or play ogg and 3gp, I can delete files like most can.

I really miss the audio resume though.

yep, he is lucky in that he has gotten players with the latest release from rockchip, many of the branded players now have all these functions in through firmware updates

lucky you to get all that, 3gp should also work

files explorer deleting is normal

Yea 3GP works, but I don't use that because it's pretty crappy quality compared to Divx I have a lot of space so I prefer Divx above 3GP

The Firmware Date(Major version ID it's called I think it means Firmware version) is "Aug 29 2008" according to the player, pretty decent

And Knob, I would love to give you my firmware for you to try but I just can't dump the firmware well as soon I can I'll upload it

EDIT:
Something weird just happened, I shutdown player with PlayPause button and immediately switched it off with that switch which removes the power
When turned back on the player was reset to Chinese tough because of the simple User interface it was easy to find settings(By the image) and then there where only a few options to choose from so the language setup option was easily found

I just have to remember to use the power off switch after the screen is totally black or the player is still on or just not use it

Not a big problem but just tought to let you know

mmmm ... if i were you i would resort to taking the player apart, shorting out the memory pins and getting to the hidden partition that way, and then at least have a back up because the chances of these players bricking is quite high, my cheap rockchip is now on its 6th!!!! repair due to it losing the hidden partition all on its own and bacause we cant find what TAG files to use on yours taking it apart may be the onlt way .. extreme i know but if it were me i would do it for piece of mind and have the firmware ready for repairs

BTW Hit - thanks for all the feedback and posts on this player, all helps - cheers

Ever since I broke my DS installing a new casing I don't want to try such things anymore
So I'm going to leave as it is, hope that some new possible tag names will be posted to try out
It's a very decent version so maybe in future when more people got this new version there will be some more possible tag names

When you do a soft shutdown the player writes a settings file, if you cut the power then maybe it got corrupted whilst writing to the flash memory, so it reverted to the default setting, Chinese of course.

Not sure myself if shorting the pins is a good idea without a backup, it's a tricky decision to make, if i discover any new .tag names i'll post them here.

btw like the pics, noticed the music screen has a slight improvement, it displays the audio bitrate  mine doesn't

Just bought a 8GB SDHC Class 4 which I'm planning to use just for movies
It works perfectly fine on this player
It was a discount from Sandisk only 24 Euro for 8GB that's cheap here

EDIT:
One funny thing I just noticed I gave my MP3 a name in Mac which was "Dylan's MP3" but to my surprise there was a song called "Dylan's.MP3" in the all music list I tried playing it it gave a file open error
I now changed the name to "MP3 Dylan"
But I think it somewhat funny that it appeared, it's not bad because it didn't crash the MP3 when I played and that for a chinese Mp3

just on the off chance, and this may not be implemented but

i have the s:flo player with all the new firmware updates you have (audio video resume, move formats etc) , well, what we also have is album art

so, does your player have album art, embedded art works, so can you give it a try, i really don't think it will be there but its worth a shot, there was talk that art was to become a standard with all base rockchip firmwares but only seen it so far in a couple of players

anyway, give it a bash and see
