video resume is automatic if it exists

on the new rockchips whenever you stop a video a small file is written to the player, upon starting the movie again it will start from the beginning, pressing the "M" button pops up a small sub menu in which you cane elect to start form last saved point

this actions is carried out for every type of movie file and each one gets its own save point made and can resume from that point, its definately worth having

now with your player being a popular design in china as well as KNC there is also a company called deluxe who brand it up, so you may have options here for a firmware update of some sort

To Knob:

Is it a KNC player or an OEM or whatever I can call it?

I found on allPMP the 4GB version for $88.90 + shipping..
too much if it's the same player

It's not the KNC player, the TinyDeal one is an OEM player.
It's the same spec with PlayFX, I got the 8Gb version.

There is no excuse for a dealer selling a unit with a virus on it. Period.

Ahh, the old 3.5mm headphone jack/plug problem.

I ran into this with a VX767 of all players, a few months ago. The cheap earphones that come with it work fine but my more expensive didn't. I tried 3 other VX767s and the same thing happened. It took me a while but I finally figured out that the actual plastic bushing of the earphone jack for the VX767 sits slightly behind the rest of the outer chassis. The opening in the chassis is large enough to accommodate the small size barrel of the cheaper earphones but my expensive earphones have a rather large barrel (and metal base at the rear of the plug). This large metal base caused the earphone plug to not plug in all the way (and here all the way is not that much distance but enough to not make good contact). I wrote the Onda's OEM about this and they said that they would forward it to their engineers and look into it. Does this make sense? I'll post some photos if it doesn't.

Knob or mackd511 - Can either of you take a closeup picture of the player's earphone jack?

my jack i definitely no good, i took the player back off and lifted the board out so i could make good fitting with the headphones and i still had the problem, still sound breaking up, but mainly only sound from one channel

i emailed tinydeal on these matters, especially the virus, they fobbed me of at the beginning saying they would look into the problems, but i have kept hassling them and will continue to do so, and we will see if they actually do make any effort

i also asked them if the would explicitly state on their web site and ebay pages that the vx747 rockchip player was not an ONDA clone and would not use the onda firmware etc, their response to this was that they "would think about this" - says it all to me!!,

The jack connection is ok now, at first the connection was very tight, it was difficult to push fully home, thats when I had problems, now it's loosened up a bit both sides play fine.

It tend to leave the earplugs in my player all the time anyway so as not to wear out the socket, so it's ok now.

There are 2 firmware bugs on the player.

1) If you set the backlight lower than 3 the screen goes black completely.

2) I get a short buzz sound when the player starts up and when the player shuts down, a bit like the sound you get on FM radio intereference.

Regarding the virus, It was "Trojan horse generic9.BH00" you would need to open up the hidden partition for it to become active, would TinyDeal have the know-how, I doubt it.

they do now!!
i have explained the routine to them, but to be honest they are fobbing me off and do not seem interested at all in the quality of their player, but this is to be expected, i am gonna keep on hassling them though and see what reastion i can get out from them, i hope they do take some form of action as the shop is extremely fast and seems genuine on many levels

it is odd that the virus existed on the hidden partition and as you said, surely this would only be activated if the partition was opened up, as we do with the tag method
Now they have either sussed out that this is what we are up to and hope that we will do this, or they are stupid and just put it in the partition end of.

in fact its a nice little hiding place is it not, kinda a dormant virus ready to burst

BTW, how is your battery??

i looked at KNC site and Delux (same people) and could see now downloads for you to try, oh well.

Battery seems ok, I don't expect to get more than 4 hours audio and 2 hours video, the batteries are usually pretty poor on these unbranded players.

I might swap the ipod mini battery from my old Rockchip if it fits.

Knob...

Can you please tell me the resolution of the screen of your new player?

Here in this Chilean site Gabstore of a friend of mine he is talking of 320x240 which I think it's wrong.
There is a lot of pics to see of the player, can you take a look please?

So this is the a new Rockchip player... no Wolfson really?

It's 400x240 with a full 3" actual screen area, I had already swapped out one of the backgrounds, yes it's the new Rockchip, not sure if it's got the wolfson, I need to open it up and look, it's got Playfx and it sounds very good on the Bass side.

The player looks identical to the photos on the site:-
Click the image to open in full size.

it's even got the screws on the bottom edge.
