makd511 25th Sep 2008 9:41 am

yes there would be something on the player screen to select tv out, its not automatic, also are there setting for PAL or NTSC tv types

yes you can change the uer interface
see tutorial and tools here and what is bootcamp??

http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewt...hp?f=24&t=4519

use the second editor for your player as the first one increases file size and you do ot have enough space on the firmware parttion

Hit 25th Sep 2008 9:53 am

And there is no TV Options at all on this player so yes it's not TV-Out supportive and I think they just included this cable to make it look like it has tv-out

Well as I ordered with Ebay I send the seller an email I want some of my cash back then I'll just write a positive review, but if not I just can't write a positive review about their company because something worth 10% of the players worth is missing while advertised

Tough player is really good just that little thing I miss It's not a big deal but I extra for it so I do claim some of my money back

Oh and as it was asked before in some other posts about this player
Mine does have Video Resume, when I replay movie it says "Continue Last Pla"(Pla is Place just doesn't fit) and under it it shows two buttons "Yes" and "No"

Also it does have Zoom so 4:3 videos can be played at full screen

And Bootcamp is the Bootloader for Mac which also include drivers for Windows to make the Mac hardware work on windows(Keyboard Grapgics card etc.)

As Mac is now Intel Windows just runs on a Mac it just needs the hardware drivers from apple and a bootloader which can start Windows XP install cd and installed partition

Hit 25th Sep 2008 10:25 am

I just found out that RKUSB.TAG doesn't work so I can't reveal the partition
Tough I saw there where quite a lot of other names makd found when trying other firmwares but I guess I can't find it only try all names he found

knob 25th Sep 2008 10:44 am

Here are some other names, just rename rkusb.tag to:-

teclast.sys
FRK.tag
yuxtest1.yux
yuxtest2.yux

makd511 25th Sep 2008 10:59 am

it was knob that found those - so credit where credit is due
nice that you have video resume, what about audio resume, i.e turn off the player and restart song from where left off, also you may have some extra movie codecs in your player, as soon as you get into the firmware partition you will see them in the system folder

also with the bootcamp system are we sure that windows works with external devices in exactly the same way as a raw install??

jsevinsk 25th Sep 2008 11:17 am

This is a nice player, but it's really annoying that I have to hold in the V button before using |<<and>>| to adjust the volume. Are there any players similar to this one that have separate volume up/down buttons?

None worked :(
I tried HXD and search for .tag but it didn't find anything, I hoped there where some traces of firmware on normal mounted partition
Too bad not

There is also Resume Music Play when I completely shutdown MP3 and start up again the Resume Play option is still there like when you paused the music without shutdown
How can I test which codecs it supports, I mean maybe some zip with all kinds of sample video files would help
And yea bootcamp is basically the same as just installing windows on a windows pc, not emulation or anything

knob 25th Sep 2008 12:37 pm

Just checked on a chinese site you can have just yuxtest.yux (without the number).

makd511 25th Sep 2008 1:13 pm

try pressing a button while connecting the player to the computer, press and hold each one in turn, connect the cable and see if t will force the partitions to view, this works with some players

Both don't work :(

Oh and I got a response from seller within 24Hours(15 Hours), that I should send a picture of my problem, support is good so far

knob 26th Sep 2008 4:51 am

Hit
Be careful here. If the seller sends you a firmware it could be the wrong one and you dont yet have a backup of the working firmware on your player.

There is a way to check if it's the right one at the end of REGISTER.DAT if you do get sent a firmware from the seller, then you should be able to find the correct .tag name at the same time.

Hit 26th Sep 2008 5:03 am

Yes I'll watch the Firmware file with a Hex Editor for any .tag name and then try out if it works on my player if it works I'll back up and install if not I won't even try

By the way my player doesn't have an Hold Switch, it has two power off buttons but now hold(Shutdown by removing power source, Hold PlayPause button is normal shutdown saying Goodbye)
I'd like it more if the Switch would be used as keylock switch and just only use playpause hold to poweroff

Edit:

Also some more info about my player, it also plays Flac I don't know if it's special tough

And if somebody can tell me possible video formats which this rockchip can support but some firmwares haven't got it I'll try those formats
I thought ASF was one of those formats right? because ASF works just fine on my players

So far I tested:
AVI Divx 5.0 - Works
ASF - Works
MP4 - Works

I'm still amazed by this player that it can do so much for the same price in my country you get a Cheap brand MP3(Small no color screen) if you pick 8GB
Tough it makes me worry it will break fast(The price is just unreal)

Edit:
Tested some more so now:

So far I tested:

Video formats:
AVI Divx 5.0 - Works
ASF - Works
MP4 - Works
AVI Divx 6.0 - Tried Lastmanstanding.divx sample from Divx, Didn't work changed name to Lastmanstanding.avi and it did work :)
MOV - Didn't work it showed loading bar but it and it kept going on and I couldn't go back so had to shut down Player(Mov was file directly from my iSight Cam in my macbook)
3GP - Works
WMV - Works

Audio formats:
MP3 - duh works
Flac - Works
AAC - Works
OGG - Works

Oh and my File explorer can delete files Dunno if that's normal or some extra

knob 26th Sep 2008 10:01 am

Re: Did anyboby buy this PMP from Tinydeal?

I think you already have a much improved firmware.

My player looks the same as yours but doesn't do audio resume, video resume or play ogg and 3gp, I can delete files like most can.

I really miss the audio resume though.

makd511 26th Sep 2008 10:10 am

yep, he is lucky in that he has gotten players with the latest release from rockchip, many of the branded players now have all these functions in through firmware updates

lucky you to get all that, 3gp should also work

files explorer deleting is normal

Hit 26th Sep 2008 10:25 am

Yea 3GP works, but I don't use that because it's pretty crappy quality compared to Divx I have a lot of space so I prefer Divx above 3GP

The Firmware Date(Major version ID it's called I think it means Firmware version) is "Aug 29 2008" according to the player, pretty decent

And Knob, I would love to give you my firmware for you to try but I just can't dump the firmware :( well as soon I can I'll upload it

EDIT:
Something weird just happened, I shutdown player with PlayPause button and immediately switched it off with that switch which removes the power
When turned back on the player was reset to Chinese tough because of the simple User interface it was easy to find settings(By the image) and then there where only a few options to choose from so the language setup option was easily found

I just have to remember to use the power off switch after the screen is totally black or the player is still on or just not use it

Not a big problem but just tought to let you know

makd511 26th Sep 2008 12:29 pm

mmmm ... if i were you i would resort to taking the player apart, shorting out the memory pins and getting to the hidden partition that way, and then at least have a back up because the chances of these players bricking is quite high, my cheap rockchip is now on its 6th!!!! repair due to it losing the hidden partition all on its own and bacause we cant find what TAG files to use on yours taking it apart may be the onlt way .. extreme i know but if it were me i would do it for piece of mind and have the firmware ready for repairs

BTW Hit - thanks for all the feedback and posts on this player, all helps - cheers

Ever since I broke my DS installing a new casing I don't want to try such things anymore
So I'm going to leave as it is, hope that some new possible tag names will be posted to try out
It's a very decent version so maybe in future when more people got this new version there will be some more possible tag names

knob 26th Sep 2008 12:39 pm

When you do a soft shutdown the player writes a settings file, if you cut the power then maybe it got corrupted whilst writing to the flash memory, so it reverted to the default setting, Chinese of course.

Not sure myself if shorting the pins is a good idea without a backup, it's a tricky decision to make, if i discover any new .tag names i'll post them here.

btw like the pics, noticed the music screen has a slight improvement, it displays the audio bitrate  mine doesn't

Just bought a 8GB SDHC Class 4 which I'm planning to use just for movies
It works perfectly fine on this player
It was a discount from Sandisk only 24 Euro for 8GB that's cheap here

EDIT:
One funny thing I just noticed I gave my MP3 a name in Mac which was "Dylan's MP3" but to my surprise there was a song called "Dylan's.MP3" in the all music list I tried playing it it gave a file open error
I now changed the name to "MP3 Dylan"
But I think it somewhat funny that it appeared, it's not bad because it didn't crash the MP3 when I played and that for a chinese Mp3 :D

makd511 28th Sep 2008 12:17 am

just on the off chance, and this may not be implemented but

i have the s:flo player with all the new firmware updates you have (audio video resume, move formats etc) , well, what we also have is album art

so, does your player have album art, embedded art works, so can you give it a try, i really don't think it will be there but its worth a shot, there was talk that art was to become a standard with all base rockchip firmwares but only seen it so far in a couple of players

anyway, give it a bash and see :)

makd511 28th Sep 2008 12:20 am

oh, and also the latest firmware from the s:flo / roclchip has game emulation, GBA, GBC etc .. try that aswell, but i think you may nave a totoal lack of buttons :)

knob 28th Sep 2008 12:51 am

Re: Did anyboby buy this PMP from Tinydeal?

Well Hit , I tried both these firmware from players that look the same:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...-am-df924.html
100% works fine, it's the TV-out version.

and this one which appears to be the improved firmware like yours Hit and I just get a white screen:-
http://www.mympxplayer.org/rockchip-...-am-df927.html

So hardware does play a big part once again, but I do hope to find an improved firmware that will work.

All my songs have album art as I use iTunes and I set album arts for every albums
But they do not show in the MP3, nor does GBC roms so doubt that GBA roms will work

Tough I'm having a problem with the player, if I shut it down and boot it up again the MicroSD isn't recognized I need to take out MicroSD and put it back in, I really dislike that even tough It's not a really big problem since I'm only using the MicroSD for movies, not really useful unless trying some exploits to get into C:/

EDIT:

Looked into somebody elses firmware files found this email:
"zengfeng1897@gmail.com" it's probably the person who engineered the Rockchip firmware
And found out that C:/ Is Firmware partition and D:/ The Flash(So in my case the 8GB Flash probably Hynix)
Not very useful but its something

found this on the internet lol:

Hi:
There are so many nes emulators that I have no idea which one is the
simplest way to port to the device based on ARM9.

thank you

Hit 29th Sep 2008 6:54 am

I just got a response from the seller

He says he accidently send me the version without TV-OUT
I gotten a few options to choose from

1): We would like to refund you 3.00GBP as compensation .
2): We would like to send you one 1GB micro card which is suit mp5 player as compansaction.
3): We would liket to offer you a discount in the coming future if you buy from me again.
4):You could send it back for a replacement with TV-OUT function.

Fair options as I see, well I already have a 8GB Microsd, and Shipping it back is going to take a lot of time
So I'm going to pick either 1 or 3
Probably 3 and then buy http://cgi.ebay.nl/Plug-Play-SUPER-M...QQcmdZViewItem
And resell it costs more then twice the price here(The fake one)

What's weird is that although this firmware came from my player, when I try to load it back in, it doesn't work. I can't explain.

I just thought, isn't there some software that can reveal hidden partition
I thought I read somewhere somebody's hidden partition did no longer show and used software + some Drivers to show Hidden partition can't I do that? or would that software also format the partition?

makd511 3rd Oct 2008 10:21 am

there is a small setup.rkw file that is used by the rk27dm program during its recovery mode,

basically its a fake firmware file, if this is loaded onto the main memory of the player and then the player is reconnected then it forces windows to find new hardware and ask for driver, direct windows to some rockus driver and voila .. your partition is revealed .... but i do not know if this will in any way wipe the partition out ...

i have onlt tested this on a user who had already knacked their partiton any way so i do not know how it will react .. it could just reveal the partiton OR wipe it out and reformat it and then show it##not sure what would happen

its experimental .. so .....

Oh I see, then I certainly can't try it as I haven't got a backup
Maybe that knob wants to try that method for me as he does have a backup

knob 4th Oct 2008 1:08 pm

Just tried it out, didn't do anything the player just ignored the setup.rkw file and I got no firmware partition, didn't get asked for the drivers either.

Tried various ways with the power switch off and the power switch on, even tried the upgrade option from the player.

I wonder if you need to use a precise sequence of actions to get this to work or my player is the wrong type, maybe it makes a difference which Rock27Boot.bin your players uses.

I'll try and swap my Rock27Boot.bin for a newer one and see if that works.

well knob i tried it myself after i posted this and it does not work it only works if the partition is somehow corrupted like o my 747 clone as i had to do it agin the other night only this time the file was already on the layer (i left it there from previous fix) and wondows recognised the two drives as normal but partition was created unformatted and all i had to do was format and copy over, so it works for recovery but not on a good player

time to try something else here

the only true thing i can think of is to short the memory pins but thats risy but it does reveal the partiton, but still, its risky, especially as we do not have a backup

sorry about that

Hope he can tell me some methods to get into the firmware partition

He speaks english :)

makd511 7th Oct 2008 12:14 pm

any news yet??

we need to work out another way t access this partition

mmmm .. thinking :)

ah, just though, mounting these players on a linux box (or was it MAC) seemed to behave differenty in that it showed the hidden partiton by default, just as a normal drive, do you have access to a linux bix at all?? (or mac)

Hit 9th Oct 2008 6:29 am

I'm using Mac, though when trying to get into hidden partition I got to the Windows Boot Partition as I got Windows installed as dualboot on my Macbook
So that isn't it

I already got some responses but not very useful
I first got an Rkusb.Tag file which he was sure of it works
It was just a regular Rkusb.tag but with his email in it
After I told him it didn't work and asked if there was some tool to unlock the partition he told me there isn't and that the firmware I have isn't not his he says it was copied from him and changed

"Dylan,Hello

I am sure that the firmware does not from me,

It seems that somebody has copied my firmware and change the name of the backdoor file.

There is no tools to reveal the partition.

Best Regards"

makd511 29th Oct 2008 10:57 am

back up firmware yes

but you rplayer may look the same as other players on the outside only, and on the inside will be different so other firmware will not work for you

it s complicated but these players are made by many different factories and one firmwrae can notwork on another

your player will never have any updates as it is a basic player with NO SUPPORT, this is how the player is o cheap

sorry, but do not try other firmwares or you will break the player, BUT do make a backup of the firmware for times when you will have problems
