there is one in the download section

http://www.mympxplayer.org/t50string...-pm-df900.html

just wait for admin to OK the download and edit away

work with the STRING.BN file, select your language and change or delete the text

The New Rockchip players are not as Unbrickable as I thought.

Sadly it seems my association with Rk27xx new rockchip players has now come to an end and I have now "BRICKED" my player for good I think.

Experimenting with firmware I now have a non-working set of firmware folders on the hidden partition, but the 60Mb firmware partition has now closed permanently and all I have is a white screen

Rkusb.tag will no longer open it and I can now only access the main player memory.

I have also tried teclast.sys, holding down the menu button while connecting the USB and the Rockchip official upgrade tool (RK27Upgrade.exe) can't find it, even opened the player to try the tweezers trick to unhide the 60Mb partition, but no dice.ops:

I am now looking at what windows partitioning tools will work on USB drives to try and Unhide the 60Mb area.

All I need to do is get the hidden firmware partition open so I can remove the non-working firmware and copy back my original, I am now open to suggestions?

right

there is a new tool called RK27DM

now visit this link and try the routines in there, i know you do not have the rkw file, but if you let all the instuctions run and load the S:flo firmware, what this tool does is repartition the drive, once it has done that maybe you can get back into the palyer and put in your original drivers

when running this too it will ask for some new rk drivers that alow access to this partition

worth a shot
http://www.mp4nation.net/forum/viewt...hp?f=38&t=4840

i would just follow all the instructions here and see if you can at leats get the partition back and recognised

also, if you get one of the compiled firmwares, any maybe will do, and rename it to setup.rkw, it may also help it tkick back in

just a thought

Thanks for help makd.

But I think I may be the first person to successfully brick one of these.

Tried the RK27DM, loaded up the .rkw, I would have expected it to work, but the "R" button didn't become active and I was not asked for drivers, so it's like the 60Mb partition don't exist.

Also tried copying setup.rkw to the main memory also no luck.

I loaded up "Partition Manager" on my PC got the main USB partition but no sign of the 60Mb one hidden or otherwise, looks bad.

what does device manager say, does it have anything reffering to this hidden partition??

what about creating a new 60 meg partition, and then copying all the original folders on there??

partition manager are odd with these as they dont see the player as one drive with partitions, but as individual drives, which is a a pain

i did have one occasion with my ramos where all he drives were bown away by a dodgy vid file, all gone, but i could do the setup.rkw thing and all was ok, but it was recvered

i refuse to believe that all is lost

Even if I go devmgmt.msc from start/run and opt to show hidden devices, no trace, I even looked at the end of REGISTER.DAT for the firmware in question, just in case they decided to call rkusb.tag something different like teclast.sys does, but no go there either.

I'm not even gonna be able to recreate the partition 'cause I would need to access the hidden drive. Only thing I can access is the players main drive. I'm gonna have to lay this one to rest, but oh well, at least I get to be the first to brick one of these!

damn shame

i thought maybe on the main drive to create a partition and see if that worked

this is all very odd,

i am sure you have, but have you tried plugging into another xp machine to see if it will kick in at all

what exactly were you trying to do when all went tits up??

there have been occasions where people have tried to run the rkdm app and it did not work, but trying on another machine, maybe a third did the trick

Well I thought I got nothing to lose so I'm gonna open up the player again and run a jewellers screwdriver tip across all the chip memory legs I can find to try and force a hard reset.
I had to prise up the big battery, It almost covers the whole pcb,
and keep running the tip across the legs shown on the photo.

Every now and again I would get the usb connected sound, but one time I got the new hardware found notification, so I just pointed it to RK27driver folder in the SFLOUPGRADEKIT, and bingo it installed the Rockusb driver, I quickly ran the RK27DM.exe and yes the "R" button was now active so I clicked that and got several dialog boxes in chinese so I just said YES to all of them. The program seemed to fail after that. So I disconnected the player and reconnected but no 60Mb partition the main one popped up so I clicked on it then and formatted it and then copied RKusb.tag to it and disconnected and reconnected again.
Then up popped the 60Mb partition, the teclast firmware had only partly installed but enough was done to fix things so all I did then was copy by backup folders in and my player was back.

So with some determination, the SFLOUPGRADEKIT (thanks again makd), problem sorted.
BTW notice the Wolfson sized pcb pads to the bottom left of the PCB
