New video: war of the 4th generation Nano clones

Here is a new video I made today, the title says it all.

Nano Clones war

Great job Hotboxx! Interesting comparison. Doesn't look like firmware or anything has changed on the clone. Not sure about the Ipod as I've never used one.

Both Actions chipsets :)

Left looks like a 3.x firmware, right is probably 9.x

Why is the left one so slow?

Do you have comparison picture of the hardware inside?

They both have 9.x firmware. Indeed, the left one is slower, don't know why.

Sorry, no pics from the intestines.

So the nano on the right is a fake too? right?

Hotboxx 27th Oct 2008 12:30 pm

Yes, they are both fake, but the one on the right is the better fake.

The iPod style USB cable is not compatible with the real Apple cable.

thats interesting, i thought they were supposed to be the same, so is it just wired like a standard USB wiring but packaged in a different shape ..

What does "Setup -> Firmware version" show for both of them?

Wow! I thought it was an actual Ipod. Well, I am definitely impressed with the differences between them. For future reference, where was each purchased?

Really nice video man! 8)

Reminds me of my first Actions MP4 with a 1.5" screen. It came in a Nano box, with a Nano manual, and had the Apple logo and iPod branding on the back. It was in all black and looked really sleek. The menu however looked more like the first one, but the menu screens weren't that kiddish looking. That was a nice player. I think i'll be getting another one, i feel like toying around with an Actions device again. :)
