Re: Discussion about Operating Systems
Finder, you're right! :P
Macbooks are the most powerful laptops ever!!! But they're eating a lot of energy because of that: BatteryLife = 2 hours! I hope that Apple will fix it. About problems: there are in ten times more problems with Windows computers - just look how many Windows-related forums, and a huge number of posts on each from them! P.S. Just in case, you will be able to buy Crossover for Mac and run Windows applications right from MacOS without installing Windows |

Re: Discussion about Operating Systems
It is not true:
right now Windows have ~90%, MacOS~9%, Linux~1%. Sorry, I had to say - in 1 thousand times!!!   For example,it was hard to find Rockchip Vista driver, but MacOS works without this driver! |
Alright then, there are "only" 10 times more Windows users than Mac users... My argument still stands.
Also, i don't get what you mean by "Rockchip Vista driver", they all connect as removable disks, which is an universal format recognized by all versions of Windows from 98 up. And good luck getting any of the recovery tools to work on a Mac. |
Re: Discussion about Operating Systems
I think discussion of this theme will not change anything.
Let's just use what we want! I would like only to say that if Macs have 9%, there is not any problems with compatibility now, and just in case every Mac user can buy Crossover for Windows apps, which is costs twice lower than the Windows OS. About Rockchip driver: without it my player can't charge from the notebook when it's connected with USB Cable. After I've installed the driver, (which I was Googling for the whole two days on Chinese sites), it can. |
Wizard,
That's strange you have to install drivers for it to charge that's for sure. Is this on your Mac? As far as I know, there is a seperate part of the USB connection that is specfically for power while the other is for data connection to computer. Take a look here: USB pinout. |
Re: Discussion about Operating Systems
No, I haven't a Mac now.
My friend has, and he is showing off! :x I don't know why I can't charge without a driver. On XP, I can after "Safe Remove", but on Vista I can't. DAMN Windows... Look! My post will be 50'000 right now! http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5017/1112223321pj3.jpg After my message was posted I took a PrntScreen and edited my message: http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/2898/112123123lm4.jpg LOL! P.S. And the most LOLish that I've joined to mympxplayer.com membership at the Fool's day! And I've noticed it only on the last week! View under my nice Avatar! |
For me, there's no contest. Free/Open Source software for Windows is freely available anywhere if you know where to look. Apple's business model relies on locking the purchaser into buying expensive Apple peripherals and software. No, I don't like that windows is closed-source, but at least I have lots of choice as to what I can run on it. This will never be the case with Apple.
Saying Apple hardware is more reliable is stupid, as they all run on Intel nowadays so there's no difference. You could install windows on your mac or osx on your wintel box if they didn't go out of their way to see that you can't do that. What kills Linux is the Tower of Babel that is all the hundreds of mutually incompatible distros all competing with each other. Nobody is going to take it seriously until they all unite under one banner and all speak the same language. Then start writing killer apps for it. They could bury M$ and Apple both. That's my $0.02. |

Re: Discussion about Operating Systems
All the components except the Intel CPU and NVidia card
are from Apple, and that's why the hardware is more reliable. However, it's not the main factor of success. I and my friend who has the old Macbook have done the benchmark test, some kind of competition, and he won, don't understand why, because the hardware of my computer is nearly 3-4 times more powerful that his. :( Maybe this defeat was because of Vista. All the new components used at the every new Windows version were mounted on the old ones from the previous versions, so, the next upgrades can't change the situation, the only thing can save Windows is a complete remake, but that'll bring to the times of DOS. There's no rescue for Windows, the future is for Linux (yes, must be United) and Mac OS X. :P Think that a lot of Windows users, who can't afford the powerful computer, will choose to install Linux to their old instead of buying the Mac. |
