I have a working unlisted MP4 player

Hello all,

I've been lurking on this site for a few weeks, and with the information I've seen, I've discovered that my portable music/video player is actually a typical MP4 player.

My player is a "The Sharper Image" brand 1GB digital audio player, which plays MP3 and WMA audio files, and AMV video files. (I haven't tried WMA or AMV files myself yet, though.) I didn't see it anywhere on this site or other sites about MP4 players, so I decided to dissect mine to get more information about it.

My player has a board marking of "MU620AFC-MAIN-V05 070407" (that last number seems to be a date of either July 4, 2007 or 07 April 2007), the CPU is an "ACU7513", and the Flash is a "Toshiba TC58NVG3D4CTG00". The firmware version is "Core: 7513 9.1.51-1". I didn't see any board like that on this site or others either.

Like I mentioned in the title, my player is still fully functional (and I hope it stays that way). I was thinking of backing up my firmware (in case I somehow botch mine up, as well as to help people who may have the same or similar player that's dead), but from what I read, I won't be able to extract my v9 firmware using s1fwx.

So I'm wondering, what could I do to contribute to the community? I don't know what I can do about extracting the firmware (and maybe someone can help me out with that), but I suppose I could at least take pictures of the inside and outside of my player.

You can make an s1clone image.

ACU7513 is not as popular as ATJ* series.

My old Actions player had the ACU7513 chip. It could not be backed up properly, not even by s1clone. However it DID play WMA, OGG audio and AMV video. And it never ever crashed, but the tuner board has had connection problems at one time, and eventually the battery ran out of recharge cycles.

Back then i wrote a guide for using VirtualDub to make better conversions (yes, even better than in the sticky). :P
