Playing .rkp files on MP4 player
Hi,
Bought a 1 GB MP4 player yesterday. I have the following information about it: The player is M198MP495. It’s based on Rockchip 2606. The seller is Youler (HK) Electronic Co., Ltd. (www.youler.net). Downloaded a few games from the website (.rkp files), created a folder called GAME on the MP4 player and copied the .rkp files into it. But the player does not recognize these. Is there anything else that I need to to do? Would appreaciate some help on this, thanks. |
Re: Playing .rkp files on MP4 player
That's because RK2606 and RK2608 aren't fully compatible.
RK2606 is for players whose screen is smaller than 2.4", and RK2608 is for players whose screen is bigger than 2.8". Also, RK2606's CPU is 100MHz, but RK2608's is 200MHz. That is why some games like Snake and Head Space can be launched both on RK2606 and RK2608, but the most of them can't: Tetris and Fighting Space can't be launched on RK2608; Tanks and Pirates can't be launched on RK2606. However, the Rockchip GDK is available for creating the new games & applications! http://mympxplayer.org/rockchip-gdk-...it-df1003.html We can create the source code of the new game. and then compile it for the several targets, in that case there will be two versions of the every new game. |
Also most of the RK2606 players do not have the GAME menu, but have the embedded "Tetris" game that replaces the GAME menu, so you can't run any extra games on these players.

Thanks. This was of great help. Downloaded GDK and created .rkp file. Pushed this onto the player but game is still not recognized.
I guess the reason now is the player does not display games as a menu. Is it possible to modify the OS/firmware to show up games as a menu? |
I don't know WIZARD what are you talking about. I have player with 2,4" screen at resolution 320x240 based on Rockchip 2606a and all these games works well on my player. The problem is with his firmware.
On my original firmware I also had embed tetris game, but with different firmware, I got access to the rkp file support, and everything works fine. Rockchip 2606a doesnt work at 100mhz, but 180mhz (2608 - 200mhz), and the only difference from 2608 is that it doesn't support external audio decoder. (as most 2608 chips are equipped with Wolfson audio chip) TO ALL 2606 OWNERS. UPGRADE YOUR FIRMWARE AND GET RID OF EMBED TETRIS GAME, AND ENJOY USING RKP FILES. |
