Default Need help identifying my player....

Hi,

I'm new here and I need help in identifying my player and also where to download software for it.

firmware info says:

QS031.8V_02

2007-05-25

9.1.50

2006-8-16

Case is silver, with a white face and an Apple logo and "iPod" next to it. I'll post pics tomorrow. There is a sticker on the back that says it is 8 gigabytes in capacity. When I plugged it into my Mac it was mounted as 2 drives, one empty and the other containing the songs and pics. But something happened to it, now I can only see 1.9 gigabytes. My pc is dead, so I had to plug it into my mom's pc to check if it could be identified as an 8Gb and the pc says it is only 1.9 Gb. I can still put songs into it through my Mac or my mom's pc, so what I'd like to know is if there is a software that would allow me to regain full use of its 8Gb capacity.

Hope you can help me identify this player. It was given to me by my uncle yesterday and he doesn't remember the brand and if it came with a software cd.

Standard Actions player, can't tell you anything more than that.

It's probably NOT 8GB, open it up and read the part# of the flash to confirm. Probably 2GB.

Thanks for the reply. Ok, I'll open it up and check the chip. BTW, which firmware should I use for it?

And here are some pics:

Don't touch the firmware, you'll likely brick it. Just extract it with s1res and keep a backup.
