It's a Rockchip RK27xx series player.
Looks nice, does it display Album art? some New RK27xx players do.
How much did you pay for it?
have a look here for more info:-
http://mympx.org/forum/mods-themes/4...s-players.html

MGebrael 28th Jun 2009 4:23 pm

I paid US$98.50!!! I think is fair for 16Gb...
And does not display Album art, neither calendar and hours!!!
How you know that is a new RK27xx? Where can I find this information?
And about the firmware... Can I try another one? if doestn't work well, can I restore the old one?
Thank you so much for your help

Is it really 16GB? Open it up and read the part# of the flash chip to confirm.

what came on the cd i didn't get a cd with mine. could you post the contents ( i bought it from the smae seller - nice guy)
the firmware is editable i have already changed the batt charge, start up screen. there looks like there two other games in the firmware a aircraft and a tank game . i'll get back to them later . player is nice and the only thing i would change is the touch - not as good as other touch devices i've used.
inside the batt has alot of space - a bigger batt would be great ( its only 850mha) but it has a good life so far.

Binh@MyMPx 29th Jun 2009 5:40 am

Hi sin,

Can I ask what tools you used to change and edit your player? It would be interesting to share this with everyone else so they know for the future.

Yes a safer way. Just copy around 9GB of movies to the player and see if they play back ok. If they do then it's really a 16GB.
I think it will be a real 16GB, 16GB is quite common on Rk27xx players.

BTW don't change the firmware until you back up the firmware on the player now, just to be safe.

makd511 30th Jun 2009 3:17 am

yeah, dont change the firmware

these players are a COPY of the ramos T8 player NOT from the same factory so DO NOT use any other firmware

they are all over ebay and all the mp4 shops have them, you cant update firmware

as for the CD dont bother as the contents will be generic, often containig firmware for TOTALLY diff player .. the perils of no brand goods

re firmware moding, what tools are you using, we have a editor here

MP4 Nation Forums • View topic - s:flo and NEW ROCKCHIP (RK27) Theming guide and tools

and a new tool here

MP4 Nation Forums • View topic - Rockmod27: mp4nations own rockchip modding tool by seasprite

rockchip firmware contain debris from other players, you will see images in there that DO NOT and never will get used

also be aware of the old modding tool as they can increase the size of the file and make it too big, the new one i linked does not ad reduces file sizes

sin 73 30th Jun 2009 10:46 am

this player is 16gb
the tools will add some size to the files. but the allocated space in the hidden partition is 89MB the files are about 50 thereabouts (mine is modded)

use the tag file -on the root - to see your hidden parttion.
just know you should backup these files before you do anything.
right now i have bumblebee running through the yard (transformers 2) as a startup screen. changed the dull white batt charging and the usb connection . i use a 4 gb macro sd as backup but its not for the player as it can't read the card ,but that is what i use as storage between computers.
love the player and as for the cd its supposed to have a firmware on it. i didn't get one just want to get to it and see what in there.

makd511
gave the links already.
for animation get a gif editor to strip gif to jpegs then have fun replacing the files. the size of the original welome screen was like 20kbs i replaced them with 210 kb pics and it looks good.

I have one that looks identical that I got off eBay. Display is like the one in the picture only mine is 4GB. One of the features I most wanted was the tv output. I tried it out and was VERY disappointed to see that the functionality of the player is essentially killed once you switch over to tv output, i.e. all you can do is turn off the player, you can't pause, ff, or even switch back to the player screen. WTF? Does anyone have a firmware or some other fix for this? I'd be very happy if they did.

Hi xadupx,
it's looks like the same, isn't it!!!
My player works good... but.. without this tv output, i belive that trick doesn't come with our player!!!
could you upload your firmware here in this site?
we can work together to make a better firmware!!!
thank so much

makd511 9th Jul 2009 3:02 am

most chinese players using rockchip are like this, connect the TV and lose control, especially touch screen players, button players usually still have control but its rare to see on screen controls on chinese players for tv out and touch screens

there are alot of these style of players out now and while they look the same they are now being made by several different factories and thus may/will be different so be careful and know/study the tools and tricks needed for recovery

buscopan 15th Aug 2009 12:28 pm

Hi there,

i downloaded ur file. Seems the main program is complete in chinese. I dont get what i have to do:confused:

ah i got it. its just for lyrics right? .lrc means lyrics huh?

mh.... and the games dont work for me, can u play the .nes games?

MGebrael 15th Aug 2009 3:54 pm

Hi buscopan,
try this one edit your lyrics:
LRC_Editor_4.rar
and about the games... didn't work in my player too!!!
did you buy from ebay???

buscopan 17th Aug 2009 7:55 am

ah, thx for the file.

Yeah i bought it on ebay.com i think we have the same player. But i never got these cd.

I wonder why the games dont work. no game works on my player. I tried also the "sample" games from the download section but the problem is, when i connect my mp5 player via usb to my pc i dont have any folders there. I just copy&paste my files and then it works .

So " copy these games in ur game folder" is nearly impossible for me^^

I tried to make my own game folder but it dont work. But when i make a music or movie folder it works.

I can see the game files in my mp5 explorer app, but they dont work anyways.

I Have no idea what i should do to play these games. As i bought it on ebay the product info says " Doubles as a flash drive with PNP (Plug & Play) function." but seems there is no PNP by me^^

any ideas?

Sry for my bad english, hope u guys understand everything:rolleyes:

zengfeng1897 24th Aug 2009 1:37 am

This player does not support any games, except the embedded one.

mskoch 16th Sep 2009 8:48 pm

Yes... you can change in 3 sizes and 3 colors !!!

mskoch 18th Sep 2009 8:10 am

Thank you for your prompt reply. I'm looking for a player with touch screen and large font so I can read without reading glasses. I saw that this has 8 choice of desktop, does it include a plain black background? Text reads much better in plain dark background for my eyes.

Thanks again.

mskoch 18th Sep 2009 5:56 pm

Wow, that's really nice of you. The large font looks really great; I know I will be able to read it even if my eye sight get worse. I downloaded lots of web pages and convert them to text files to read, so no PDF is okay. Thank you again for helping out we older folks. ;)

DariusJ 22nd Sep 2009 5:42 am

Hello there,

I bought a same Mp5 player but with 8 GB of space. Now it's dead. I think that is a firmware problem. Can you upload your firmware for me please?

MGebrael 22nd Sep 2009 3:16 pm

My firmware is here:

http://mympx.org/forum/general-discu...tml#post282072

do you know what happen with your player?

DariusJ 22nd Sep 2009 3:22 pm

In the meanwhile I solved the problem. I got the firmware for 8GB from a friend and it worked.

Long story short:

The seller sent me a broken USB cable which lead to a short-circuit (fault) that broken both the partition: storage and firmware. So I formated both and copied the firmware from my friend.

:)
