Default Didn't know what I was getting into

I just bought an 8gb mp3 player on Ebay. It's an ak2025. After experiencing problems, I stumbled upon this forum. I've used the MP3 Players Utilities, followed the helpful instructions from the forum, and now I seem to have a functioning 2GB player.

My seller, tea5761, has answered a question I've sent him, but is no longer selling anything. I've already left positive feedback (before I knew I had problems). What recourse do I have? Can I ask him for (and expect) a refund?

There are dozens, even hundreds, of positive feedbacks left for this seller. Are they all unaware of their new players problems, or are they like me - leaving immediate positive feedback because they're so happy to get a cheap player?

Do any of the many mp3 players being sold on Ebay actually have the # of GBs they are advertised at? If so, how do you know which are trustworthy? Or do you just buy these expecting to get 25% of the advertised GBs?

I hope I haven't left too many questions all at once. Thanks in advance for helping.

Even if you could leave feedback it probably won't help if the seller isn't selling anything anymore. If you paid via Paypal and the transaction is less than 45 days old, you can open a dispute with Paypal. Some people who bought hacked players were able to get their money back. However, if your seller has closed his Paypal account too then you may be out of luck.

People in China seem to be able to have multiple seller accounts on ebay because I often see different sellers with identical information on their item description. This makes the feedback rating useless because bad sellers will just change their identity and start over again.

Good luck.

Are there some of these Chinese mp3 players that live up to their advertised memory? And if so, how do you know? Instead of a list of the bad sellers, is there also a list of good ones? Thanks!

Yeah, there is a forum that talks about good and bad ebay sellers if you'd go farther down the forum list on the mympx.org home page or go here: Bad sellers/Blacklist

You can also google the seller ID too because buyers who have already left positive feedback but were cheated would sometimes post their complains in forums like this and it will come up on google search. You should add your seller's name in the bad seller forum to help save others.

In general, however, there is always a risk when buying mp3/mp4 players from China off ebay. You are better off going to legit web sites that sell brand China players like Allpmp or Mp4nation.

Firstly I would check if the seller has appeared here:

SOSFakeFlash

As you can see there is a page with your seller's name on it:

tea5761 Ebay Fake Flash Seller Alert – China SOSFakeFlash

I normally buy my players from a Finnish company based in Hong Kong:

Thanks for hooking me up with SOSFakeFlash. I have filed a complaint report to that website and to Paypal against the seller, tea5761. I hope to get my $13.50.

In the meantime, I have a question, should anyone know the answer. The seller has asked that I mail the mp3 player back to him in Hong Kong. My question is, is it illegal to send a known fraudulent item through the US Postal Service?

I have no intentions of mailing it back, but I'd just like to know.

And by the way, the name and mailing address that the seller has given to me doesn't match the name that he uses with Paypal.
