Default Is this the end of mympx???

I remember 3 or maybe 4 years ago when i first found this site, i was positively surprised to find so much valuable information on one site, the numbers of active members where increasing and the community was growing.

In the past the site had some issues with the host and it was down quite often, but people kept coming back, since this WAS the only place to talk and get help related to mp4 players.

New domain, new host, new forum software and new design was announced and i was really optimistic about this change, till today this is the only "free" forum where people can talk quite freely on the topic.

As im in the MP4 business i have some knowledge that i would like to share with the community, but honestly i feel like the forum is slowly going to an end. The forum structure have not improved and members are not returning, and i think even the main sponsor Uexell (never remember how to spell it right) have also pulled their ads off the page.

Left are ads to ebay sellers that may be the same scammers this forum is trying to protect its members from.

I really hope this is not the end of this once great forum which i loved to visit.
Im willing to contribute to the community and help you guys back on track.

TBH since the site changed i have not been much at all, i don't have time and find this site design alot less welcoming then the basic, out of the box design (sorry )

this site has done a sterling job in helping those with cheap unbranded players from dodgy stores and the ebay disaster, as can be seen though people still keep buying, i for one started out here and was also one of those victims, came here and eventually stated helping others etc

But as time goes on i and many others have moved on, beyond the cheap clones to players that yourself and the likes of other stores like mp4nation, allpmp, ownta etc etc sell (proper, supported player from china) and to come here and again see people with fake ipods is hard to see and hard to help because, as we have moved on peoples time is in other places or they (like my old brain) has forgotten most of the crap to do with these players meaning the fake pods and cheap as no brands - there are still just too many players all different and its a pain

i hope the site picks up again but what may have happened is that this site has done its job and actually stopped alot of people buying the cheap crap from ebay so not as many need help

also a possibility is phones, so many phones now do all what these can, even the cheaper ones so maybe mp4 buying aint that big now??

who knows

Thanks for your feedback.

No, I don't think it's the end of MyMPx and far from it.
I know some old, reoccuring members have moved on, I guess that's expected. I mean, people come to the site for help and support while some people come to give support and help others. We all don't get paid for what we do and do this in our spare time. So it's expected that members do move on as they will have other priorities and other matters to deal with in their life so probably don't have the spare time anymore.

In saying that, there has also been new members who have come to the site to help others and I really appreciate their help!

What I have noticed though is that there are not as many members joining and not as many forum posts as before. I guess overtime (4 years), people have caught on and that we have a goog Google ranking and search, most of the problems have been covered already so I think people are finding solutions to their problems already, instead of posting the same questions (though it still happens)..............I also think the new site setup is probably too efficient because it has the "similar posts" link at the bottom as well and I think people are starting to find more solutions rather than posting them.

I have been concentrating on fixing the old site from hackers and working on the new site that I haven't really made contact with our previous advertisers (such as UXcell and MP4Nation).

Might be a good idea to see the stats at the bottom of the page, how many unregistered are viewing the site, what they are viewing etc, like the old site had, and say how many visits in a week or day etc.

I suspect a lot are making use of the vast resources already here and don't need to post questions anymore but it doesn't mean the're not making use of the site and don't forget, half will still be viewing the old site as well!

Just my luck... I show up right when they run out of beer and everyone's going home.

At least I won't have to share the couch, and there's still plenty of good stuff at the back of the fridge.

Talking

MyMPx will never die, trust me . It's been the best resource (and first) to offer such vast information about players and such a helpful and friendly community. Most probably peeople don't start threads that much because the players aren't something new anymore. Like with every cool gadget, it's been that fever at the beginning when everybody had one and was asking questions about other models, etc. I guess people have now gained experience.

As for the user base, we're still here, it's only that we have less time than before .

Cheers!

Sure members come and go on every forum.
But this forum have to grow not much fun to discuss on an empty forum.

That said that admin's job is to make it grow?
How?

Give members what they want.

If they dont buy cheap noname players, they dont need support for them either.

Humm...... I don't think that everybody in the world will suddenly stop buying the no-name players anytime soon........ Manufacturers and sellers will sell and advertise more players with more functions, increase capacity and release clones of other new players. As long as there is demand, there will be someone wanting to make money for it and if it's CHEAP, then it will still attract people....................

The forum is not empty. Come to the forum everyday and see how people new post are being posted each day.........

Yes, it is my job to make it grow and I think the forum is still 'ticking along'. The site is giving members what they and that is to help, assist and try to give advice on the no-name MP3/MP4 player and all this for FREE.

I am paying monthly fees for two dedicated servers, putting in time to reply to posts, moving posts, deleting posts, editing posts etc.... and doing this all in my spare time. I would love to do this full time and I don't get paid for it and the site is funded by Ads and small amount of commision. I and no other member here are getting paid a full time salary for the running and maintaining of this site. I want to share this site and make available for everyone as a resource and a hub for everyone with the same interest in MP4 players. All this freely available to everyone.

The site grew on it's own from other people sharing the same interest and knowledge and learning from each other. I didn't need to do any self promotion as obviously people who found the site useful and helpful and wanted to give back what they got out of it - like the saying goes "What goes around, comes around".
