MPx Player with Android OS?

What are your thoughts on this idea? Would you buy one?

If it was of high enough build quality and had good audio, video, etc. I would replace my iPod touch with it.

Is this a good idea? Your thoughts please!

they are coming in a few weeks, several big chinese branbded companies have these in the works

problem with android has always been video playback but this seems to have been sorted

ramos are releasing on, w7 and teclast the T58 - thiese will be about $200 ish dollars, 4.3" touchscreens with wifi etc - come next year, if these sell well in China expect prices to fall and a raft of android players to follow

Awesome. Could possibly be an iPod replacement. Depends though.

well they could be
files support will be better in terms of music and video formats
apps, well you will be able to use whatever apps are made for android and as android is really taking off now with big name phone companies and the main platform getting better things will only increase

The ipod touch (i like the way wifi works on it) is a nice device and I think it's worth the money if it wasn't for the 4 reasons why I don't get one.

1) The ipod dock (I prefer miniusb)
2) Lack of drag and drop (would like the option to not use itunes)
3) Lock out of the system (yes I know you can jailbreak, but that's not enough!)
4) Limited video support.(you should be able to add codecs)

If the android PMP can be as good as the ipod touch + include the 4 above I would get one
for sure.

I'd only get one if it was multitouch. I cant go back to using buttons or a regular touch screen.

i dont think we will se multitouch on these player

all of what you mention knob will be there and there seems to be a big push to get full on better media support for playing vids

but multitouch i doubt we will see, its just too complex for them to get a grip on, they ahve tried a couple of times, the T50/s-flo had this but its was underdevloped and floored

i think with android thoug, it seems a really nice UI and very intuitive that it sort of seems to get around the multitouch with an innovitive UI - anyway we will have to see how they turn out, our worry is bad hardware but then again they are using telechips processpors and the latest rockchips so we will see - its gonna be an interesting time for the chinese PMP for the next few months but if the chinese market do not take to them then they wont continue with it i am sure

That's bad news. I feel this is coming too little too late. The multi touch on the ipod is very good. I would like to see something to challenge it.
I know a lot of folks who going to be buying ipod touches this time around, can't blame them, it is a good product and seems well built.

well multitouch is good, dont think its the big draw of the ipod now, in fact my sister does not even know what i am on about re multitouch - all epople want the touch for now is apps

well we will see what the players bring, hopefully multitouch will make it in, but judging from what i have used for chinese players with multitouch it wont be good
