Default Rizone '32gb' mp3 player

Hello all, I just have a few questions for the great people of this forum.

First, I just wanna say that I do know this is a hacked mp3 player. I bought this mp3 player with the intention of getting a refund ($10 for a 4Gb player with micro-sd support is still an excellent price)

Believe it or not, I've been using it for about a year now and it has not had any problems so I have been very happy with it.

I never updated any firmwares or changed any technical settings to make sure it lasts as long as it can. I kept less than 4gb of music on the hard drive and put my videos on the memory card.

However, just the other day, the screen kinda got warped. The player still works but you can't see half the screen.

This is what it looks like:

Is this because of the cheap player and parts or did the screen get crushed somehow? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Would a firmware update fix this problem without killing the player? Would I be able to buy a replacement screen (I know they are very cheap) or just open the back and adjust a wire or something? Or am I better off just purchasing a new one?

Thanks for any and all help!

Ian

i would just be guessing, because you didnt indicate if this is moving lines, or stays that way.
a display like this without any cracking , could indicate that the ribbon connector thing that connects the display is loose.
This looks a bit more like a hardware issue than a software issue. but certannly if you had proper firmware on the device, then damaged the device, and it got like this, it is unlikly that some sort of upgrade of the firmware itself would resolve the issue.
If you had done an upgrade OF the firmware and suddenly got an issue like this, that would be different.
the player still being operational, would indicate (almost certannly) that the software is still working fine, it is only a display issue, which is probably not going to be addressed with software.

what do you have to lose? open it up and check the lcd itself for damage, if the lcd is still intact, then check any connections that are adjustable and re-solidify them.

You're right, i did forget to mention that. They are solid still lines, not moving.

Ok, I will open it and check.

If the ribbon is loose, is it just something I can unplug and plug back in?

What do you mean by solidify? Do you mean just making sure nothing is loose or do you mean soldering the unit?

yes, i aint about to try and solder on them things myself, too small.
hopefully you find a ribbon connect thing from the lcd and carefully get it to connect better.
if it is soldered ribbon instead of uses a connector, then try and get it to make a connection. even though it is not connected on some of its points, see if that changes it.

if there is liquid in there, then dry it out.
