Added High miliAmpere battery but not chage in performance
Hello All,
I got an MP4/MP5 game player with sunplus 3050 chip if I am not mistaken. The player came with a chinese 600mamp battery soldered in the motherboard. I bought a new Nokia battery and soldered that to the body which has a milliamp of about 1200miniamps. So how come there is not battery life boost? I was expecting it to run for atleast 8 hours straight. Any ideas? Is the firmware limiting it to charge till 600mA? I mean, if the battery has capability to charge to 1200mA, why is it not working as expected? The voltage for both the batteries are at 3.7 volts. Thank You. |
What type of battery is it ?
I would assume its a Lithium-Ion Polymer battery.
If thats the case then there is a logic build in to prevent damage to the cells. The logic `knows` how many cells are in the pack and therefore charges accordingly. Simply changing the battery would not result in higher battery runtime because the logic board still assumes a 600mA cell(s) in the player. I recently changed the battery in my ebook player and i had a had time finding a corresponding logic circuit for it that allows me to really use the extra charge. I guess i got lucky that a local electronics store sold those things. What you could try is to charge the battery is a Li-Ion approved charger. (One that is either able to detect the amount of cells or one where you can specify it via switches or simply the one that came with it) The battery indicator on the unit is also specifically for 600mA. I think they measure the drop in voltage and not the actual capacity but i am not sure. Voltage would be my guess. Regards Nicolas |
As I mentioned, that the battery is soldered to the device, so there is no external way for me to actually charge the device.
Is there any trick that I can use to charge the battery to its max? Maybe change the firmware or something? The reason behind this is that I did read a number of posts where the user changed their battery to get higher performance as long as the voltage was same, so how come it is not working in this case? Thank You. |
