RockChip EBOOK V1.0.05 - HELP!!!!!!

Please help  I have just purchased the EBOOK V1.0.05 and have the following problem:

I plugged the USB cable into the reader and my pc and my pc did not even detect that there was a new device, I then went out and bought a new cable and the pc now recognises that there is a new device but says
“One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it”.

Any help with how I can fix this problem or is the device faulty?:(

Hi Lee Ann!
Hope you solved your problem since you posted...if not: I had exactly the same troubles with my rockchip e reader. I got a new cable from the company who sold me the ereader. I made sure they gave me a mini USB cable with a little capacitor (looks like a knob in the cable), because I noticed, that things got better when I used my camera card readers' cable...
So try these steps: unplug other USB devices like card reader, you can leave all internet cables....connect your (hopefully not faulty) USB cable straight into the computer and not into a usb hub......it should work.....maybe you need to go into system-hardware and scan for hardware changes.....in the end I got two icons sitting in "my computer", one for the main memory of the ereader and one for the extension memory card in it. It can be usedd with drag and drop files etc. When things are working properly your reader should show a USB sign on it.
Well I hope this helps, I am not sure whether we got the same reader?
Also, install calibri, the free and phantastic ebook management software. It detected my device as "Sovos Reader" even though it isn't from Sovos. Never mind, it works.
If problems persist, just post again, ok? Will try to help

If you pluged in your ebook reader before you started your computer it might not show.I have to wait until my system is up and running for it to work right.

Start your computer and plug the e-book in after it is up and running. My system will see it only if I plug it in after my system is up and running.

Can you try plugging it into a different USB port on your computer and see what happens? Also, can you try plugging it into another computer as well to see what happens? Most likely the pins on the USB port on your player is faulty or damaged (most likely the data pins) so it's not sending data and information through the USB cable completely.
