Can you trust players from Amazon?

I've been watching a Colby mp620 (8GB and 4GB) on Amazon for about a month now. AmazonAmazon The prices go up and down on these players like the stock market does. I remember someone leaving a review on Amazon saying that they got one of these players and it was hacked. I was a victim 5 years ago and that chipod was pretty crappy.
I later went to just a thumb drive style player from Samsung which I loved, but it too has died. When I saw this one, I was interested, but I'm still a bit gun shy.
I don't really care about playing video on the player. That was cool back in the day, but re-encoding everything and transferring just to watch on a tiny screen got old fast.
I also want something that is accessible through windows explorer. Not one of these lame players that you have to sync with WMP. I can't remember what they are called. It's not MMC players, but some sort of 3 letter thing. I just want to be able to copy and paste what I want just like a thumb drive and I'm pretty sure that's the way this Colby works.
I don't think this player has one of those little 2.5mm jacks on it does it? I hate those little ones that you have to get an adapter for if you want to use decent headphones on.

So what do you think about buying from Amazon and this player.

players from Amazon to be trusted?

Amazon gives you a money back guarantee if goods are dammaged. I once ordered a drill that was actually working but just had too little power and they gave me money back without any trouble and eventually withdrew the model. Make sure, if the player is from a seller on amazon, that he/she is included in this guarantee. Not sure here, I think they all are. ---Which is why I like to buy from amazon.
About the player: why dont you buy an ebook? I bought a a no name ebook (not from amazon because I got it cheaper elsewere) that has panatastic sound and picture quality, video files do not have to be converted....am pleased with it. It is 7 inch though, maybe you won't like that size?

Thanks Loho. Makes sense. My mom always orders stuff from Amazon. I've never created an account there. I'm the one that always looks at stuff on Amazon for her and then I tell her to order me something too while she's there. So I've never really looked at all their guarantee rules. I guess I will check them out more.
The little Samsung that I had, I got on ebay used or open box I don't remember. No end cap or ear buds for about $6. Found it used on Amazon now for $34!

Mine was black. Still have it somewhere. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg
It was great because it needed no charger or usb cable. I could start it and lock out the control buttons and stuff it in my jeans pocket and work outside or crawl under stuff and never have to worry about it. One night, a couple of years later, I lost it. Next day I found it in a pool of water. I got it dried and it still worked but I couldn't skip tracks or change volume. I was bummed. So I got another one of the same model off ebay, but that one you had to sync with WMP and I didn't like that. Different chipset I guess.
So for my purpose, size does matter. "Is that an ebook in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" Probably too big. But now you got me interested. About how much was your ebook? You have a link to it or model # for me? I like to check out all the specs on it.

reply: my reader is 7 inch + player+ etc.

Hi, sorry for the delay...here is the link:
Jtek 8gb Touch Screen Mp3 Mp4 E Reader - Brand...Jtek 8gb Touch Screen Mp3 Mp4 E Reader - Brand... The ereader came with nice cover that doubles up as frame (for photo show) the sound is great, display perfect, the videos smooth and sharp, pity about the software implementation: only the basics are covered.(example: bookmarks can be set, but only 5, and you can't name them, a nu,ber is assigned)....not exactly a pocket reader, but I need it at that size for reading epubs (which it does best)in big font size , font size adjustable, display can be flippedm for reading in sunlight choose a green or other colour background...etc.
Music sounds really good. I also connect it to PC desktop speakers (those with their own amplifier) and play music aloud. I really like the thing, got it from Jteks own website slightly cheaper than amazon and they answered any question I had....I don't know where you live, but am sure these multi media tablets are available everywhere.
THis reader is for people who don't want internet and all, only reading and listening to music, watch videos (e.g. think of long boring plane flights). I am going to buy a headphone splitter, so that my other half and I can watch a video or listen to music together.
it also comes with usb to car ciagerette lighter, so if you drive you don't run out of power.
For the money: very pleased........but am afraid, there won't be any updates for the software, which is why I got to this site. The e reader has a RK2738 SDK chip.....A happy new year then!
