[solved] USB 2.0 "Full" and "Hi" speed i
Hello, somewhat i've been reading these forums for quite some time. However, i dont see that you guys are experiencing what I am experiencing...
I have a F15-01GD Player, and it say's it is USB 2.0 compliant. However, when i transfer files to the drive, its slow. So, i scanned it with the USB scanner utility, and somewhat it displayed that it is a USB 1.1. That is what i dont get... The player says it it's a USB 2.. however, the information contradicts it. Is there a way I can change it to be USB 2? And yes, all my USB ports are USB 2 highspeed... Furthermore, yes, i have updated my windows. (Win XP Pro Servic Pack 2) Are any of you guys experiencing this? |
Re: USB Interfaces
Zepheris,
Don't believe everything the manual or the stickers tell you on your player. I've seen some of these players having a "Sony" brand printed on them and we all know it's not really a "Sony" :D Unfort, you might have been ripped off by the manufacturer on the USB 2.0 interface. Personally, I don't know of a 'fix' or 'hack' you can put on the player that will enable it to have USB 2.0 speeds. As far as I know, it's actually the HARDWARE itself that's diff from USB 1.1 and USB 2.0. If you are noticing slow speeds (and you will with USB 1.1 and USB 2.0), try the following to double confirm it is a HARDWARE issue and not to do with your computer: 1. Try another device that you know is USB 2.0 and see how that transfer on your computer. 2. Try plugging your player into another computer/s and see what the transfer rate is. That way you can be sure it's definately not USB 1.1 and not your computer that's the problem. |
Re: USB Interfaces
Yeah, i tried that already, and still it's the same... It's very slow, compared to my Cruzer Mini Flash Drive... I guess maybe, the MP4 player's usb interface is lower than USB 2.
Well.. if it's a hardware problem, then i guess we can't do much about it. At least it works... but i just hate the slowness. Thanks for your suggestions :) I appreciate it... |
USB 2.0 "Full" speed and "Hi" speed
Zepheris,
Yours probably is USB 2.0, however just Full-Speed USB 2.0 instead of HI-Speed. Full speed USB 2.0 is pretty much the same as USB 1.1 just relabelled. USB 2.0 Full speed is only 12Mbits/second (same as USB 1.1) whereas HI-Speed USB 2.0 mode is capable of a much faster 480Mbits/second. That's why I always check to make sure it's USB 2.0 HI-SPEED instead. It's a bit deceptive as it's easy to mistake Full-Speed for Hi-Speed. |
Re: USB 2.0 "Full" and "Hi" speed interf
Oh.. okay :) I think i got it now.. Yeah, it does say it is Full speed. Darn, i wish it was Hi speed. I guess, it was just a little misunderstanding. Well.. they shouldnt have labeled it USB 2.0 if its only 1.1. Darn, stupid creators. :)
Thanks for everything. :) |
