VIRUS - Mp3 Player Utilities 4.05 virus
I downloaded the AMV Convert Tool 4.05 - MP3 Player Utilities 4.05 from this site, it was number 6 in the top downloads I think. After installing it, my computers' totally broken (Windows XP). It uninstalled more than half of my programs, and I can't do a system restore. I've lost a lot of important files aswel, and it won't uninstall. If anyone has any pointers, I'd be real greatful!

gargoyle,
REALLY?! WOW, that's news to me! I just scanned the files with Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 and it didn't find a virus. Are you running any antivirus software on your computer? Did it come up with any messages or rebooted your computer straight away? |
Re: VIRUS - Mp3 Player Utilities 4.05 virus
Yeh, I have zone alarm. The program just installed and deleted a lot of important stuff. I took it to a shop, but they couldn't restore the stuff, so I'm going to have to re-install windows. I recommend that no-one downloads that program just in case...

Really. I used it last week.
My PC didn't detect anything and I've had no ill effects. I recommend checking where else you'd been recently and what else you'd downloaded. Definitely no virus when I got it. Sorry to hear you had an issue. |
Stupid Onecare didn't tell me anything...had to TM Housecall. Go to http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ in case you're not sure, I had a trojan from it.

The MP3 Player Utilities version 3.68 at s1mp3.org has a back-door trojan as well. I don't know anything about other versions 'though, after I got that file I did not download anything from those guys.

Downloaded and attempted to install the file, and avast! picked up a win32.trojan

i scanned the files with AVG Internet Security 8.0.93 but no detects virus

Re: VIRUS - Mp3 Player Utilities 4.05 virus
I got a mini-CD labeled Driver with my 8GB iPod Touch near-clone S1 MP3 Player. I scanned the mini-CD with Avast 4.8 and it reported 3 instances of Win32:Trojan-gen {Other} in the 3 AVIConverter.exe files (3 screen sizes). I uploaded them to VirusTotal.com and VirusTotal gave them a clean bill of health--no malware found by 37 different anti-virus products. Go figure.
