Antenna for mp4 player?
 

Seems to me at one time I saw an external antenna for mp4 players with FM. It plugged into the headphone jack and let you listen to fm on the external speaker. I only saw it once (ebay) months ago and never since. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Well, what exactly do you mean? Just putting whatever you're playing on fm?

No, I'm talking about players with a built-in FM tuner. None of the ones I've seen get any reception without the headphones/buds attached. I guess the cord acts as the antenna. I once saw a little antenna you could plug into the headphone jack that didn't cut off the internal speaker so you could listen to FM radio without headphones. The same way you can listen to mp3's/videos without 'phones.(on players with internal speakers) Sorry if my first try at this question was unclear...

I understand what you mean and its entirley possilbe - Ive done ti to all my players.
You open up the player and find the headphone jack , then get a long stips of copper wire you can use for your reciever , Or whatever works best , But copper is often thin so i use it. and you need to wrap it in a small coat of sticky tape to stop electrical shortcuts. Then solder it to one of the headphone pins (Im not sure which one it is) i think its the bottom , just test them out witht eh player turned on.

The player will function fully and there wont be any noticable changes because your antenna is on the inside of the player. If you pop headphones in then it wont affect them either.
