Funniest thing I've seen all day...

eBay page -> New 1GB MP3 MP4 Player Video + Skin for I POD Nano Blue.

There is indeed, a sucker born every minute!

Hi Amigajoe,

Thanks for the post but not exactly sure what I should be looking for?

Maybe it's the winning bid? $72.99 is pretty steep for a 1gb player. Though, it's not a surprise when it comes to bidding. I've often paid more than I intended to while caught up in 'winning the auction'.

I am not sure what was funnier. The sucker that paid over $80 w/shipping for a 1G AMV player from a new seller with 0 sales feedback or the fact that it went right over Admin's head. Thanks for the Darwin award of the day post!

It was paid US$ 71.99 + US$ 9.00 for a video player?

What's the funny here?... over the world lots of people pay more for a device that only plays music... that expensive device looks exactly the same to this one that appear in the advertising... is capable to play music, lately was added MP3 also in the formats capable to play, but it can't play videos... its sound is simply average... no special attribute in this area.

Nothing justify the extra price buyers is asked for, as this device is manufactured in China.

There is only a small detail... its marketing campaign is the most efficient of the world, as everybody knows it very well and often its name is confused as the name of the genre.

It's know as iPod... meaning mp3 for all the world.

Apologies to those that don't share my sense of humor! It's just as a person who's been around ebay for a while now, it astounds me that someone would pay that kind of $$ for that item. Even just a little looking around would show you that the average price is less than half that. WHen I was buying them for sale I wouldn't pay more than $30 total. Interestingly prices actually seemed to have gone UP over the past year instead of down. Sign of a strong market for them, I guess...

ebay never fail to amuse me. Most bidders do not "research" into the average selling prices of the items they bid for, and often end up bidding much higher than what it is "actually worth".

But then again, they probably mistook the player to be a real ipod. however, a real 4GB ipod costs just $149. Perhaps the winning bidder was drunk.

Amigajoe, no need to apologise.
I can see what you mean though. There are HEAPS of these players available on email. It wouldn't take long to see the other players and see the price they should be paying.

But then again, some people I know pay much more just an MP3 player when there are more lower priced players that play video and have more features. All comes down to personal preference I guess.

Another example is Subway had a special here in NZ where if you buy a 6 inch Sub and a drink and the price is actually 50 cents CHEAPER than buying just the 6 inch Sub! Though the attendent serving the person mentioned this, the person still wanted to just buy the 6 inch Sub. He would rather pay 50 cents more and not get the drink! All comes to person preference I guess.

I think it's a pretty common occurrence on eBay or any other auction site. People get caught up in the thrill of bidding and bid more than they intended.

It is funny because of how our need to win occasionally rules out our common sense.

LOL Bihn! That is hilarious.
