Interesting e-mail communication I had with tinydealdirect -
I asked them if they had considered adding rockchip players to their inventory because it would CERTAINLY boost sales. This was the extent of our communication: Me: Hi, I would like more info about product: http://www.tinydeal.com/catalog/prod...dbecdf4fccdc04 It says transflash card slot. Is it rockchip? Does it support AVI movie file, or just AMV? Does it have a 2.5mm or 2.5mm headphone jack? Thanks Them: hi dear sir, thanks for contacting us. the player supports AMV video format. what do you mean "rockchip"? this player supports extension memory by TF card. the earphone jack is 3.5mm Me: rockchip players have external memory slots and support AVI video files and multitasking (listening music and viewing pictures at same time). Here is an example of a rockchip player: http://img.memorygreat.com/img/digital/RM600-01.jpg Will you be adding any rockchip players to your inventory in the future? They are much better than the cheap AMV kind you sell now. Them: hi dear sir, many thanks for your suggestion. we will search the rockchip players in the market. thanks ------------------------------------------------------ I was very surprised that these retailers didn't know what a rockchip player was! But I'm also happy that they've taken my request into consideration. I look forward to seeing them add rockchip players for unbeatable prices. |
princess,
I think they do have at least 1 Rockchip player, I think this is it:- http://www.tinydeal.com/catalog/prod...dbecdf4fccdc04 it says supports .avi (that's if the description is accurate) the descriptions do look a bit "ebay like" though. |
oh, that's a player using an ankya chip (at least I think that's how it's spelled). It's slightly different than a rockchip but has similar features. But to me, the player looks HIDEOUS. I meant rockchip as in a more "Vista" or "Temptation" type.

re: Hundz
I have a package coming from China (not from tinydealdirect though) sent via EMS which is supposed to be fast shipping and I still have not received it. There might possible be some problems with shipping in China at the moment I am not sure- I tracked it and it left China on the 10th. |
Re: Tinydealdirect???
I just tracked my player on the NZ Post website:
Item delivery status for RR518342185CN * 8.16 AM * 15/11/07 * Arrived in New Zealand Your item has arrived in New Zealand. So that's good news!!! I expect it will arrive tomorrow morning (early I hope so I can get it before going off to work, otherwise I may not get it until after the weekend as will have to pick-up from Postshop). Can't wait to get my hands on it! |
Hi mate,
I don't think you will get it tomorrow as it will normally say if it has been through the Customs Clearance. My package sent via EMS has still not arrived in NZ yet- arggh. |
You're right - I haven't got it today (Friday). Haven't ordered anything from China before, but I have to say this is the slowest shipping I've ever had for something that has tracking. Much be quite a budget option. But free shipping so I can't really complain and at least it's made it to NZ, even if it's still sitting at Mangere...
Hopefully will get here early next week then, will update the forum then. Hundnz |
Well pretty much every shipping from Mainland China is quite slow (Courier Options are very quick though). The shipping is free as it probably only cost them around $1.50 NZD .
Things sent from Hong Kong come quickly though. When I get order worth over $250 NZD I always choose to use DHL so that my package is delivered by CourierPost in New Zealand. Remember so many packages are coming overseas due to XMAS so Customs will be very busy. |
Well the player has arrived! On Saturday morning no less, although I didn't realise it was there until today (when I checked the NZ Post tracking site, doh!). That makes a ordering/shipping time of two weeks exactly, which is reasonable. So far I'm very impressed, although all I've done is plugged the player in the mains and looked at the demo songs/video and tried out the radio and camera , all working satisfactorily. Even the headphones are not complete rubbish.
But the manual is confusing (no surprise) - it talks of having to convert files to AMV, when I thought I was buying a player that converted to AVI. I'm pleased I ordered when I did - the player has disappeared from the Tinydeal website so it looks like mine was one of the last to go out. Luckily Google cache can help out - I'd be grateful if an expert could have a look at http://tinyurl.com/2l3q3e and give me an opinion on what sort of conversion really is needed. Until today I thought the player I was getting was the one reviewed at http://nkhan.jwmediabox.com/blog/rev...d-clone-china/, but while the hardware looks identical, the interface/display screenshots there look different to what my player has. Anyway will post more when the charging time (4hours) is up and I can have more of a play, as usual when acquiring a new gadget I am very pleased , but it has been my experience that one or two annoying flaws become apparent on closer inspection! hundnz , it should be a Sunplus chipset as the description says .avi .3gp .mp4. But to be sure, check the format of the demo video that came with it.
Usually these players are mass produced with generic instructions and cds that are not related to the actual product. |
